Purpose:

This position reports into the Director or Communications, Change Management and Strategic Learning Initiatives in the Pharmacovigilance and Patient Safety (PPS) organization. The PPS organization works collaboratively and strategically with colleagues across the product lifecycle to identify, evaluate, understand and communicate the safety profile of our drugs to protect patients worldwide.  The Global PV Strategic Operations Office brings together teams to advance our organization through Strategic Operations, Project/Program Management, Office of the PST,  Safety Governance, and Communication, Change Management  and Learning.

 

The Learning and Engagement Strategies team drives exceptional employee engagement and line of sight through:

  • Alignment, coordination and delivery of key leadership messages across all PPS stakeholders,
  • Continuous evolution of PPS culture to encourage engagement and alignment with the AbbVie Way
  • Supporting business partners in maximizing ROI for key initiatives through planned change management
  • Partnering with senior leadership to identify and plan for the unique learning and engagement needs of each sphere (role requirements, leadership gaps, new capability building, key events, etc.)
  • Designs and delivers ground-breaking development and event experiences to evolve our organization
  • Manages functional training infrastructure

The Director L&E role will provide strategic and tactical support for PPS-wide engagement strategy, including  communication, culture, development & event strategy; serve as lead for development planning and implementation of PPS-wide and function-specific development experiences and events; develop, maintain and ensure effective use of PPS communication platform to drive engagement  and culture change.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and tactical support for PPS-wide learning and engagement strategy
  • Develop, maintain and assess Annual Learning Event Plans for PPS and its four spheres to deliver groundbreaking events and experiences to support engagement and development
  • Partner with senior leaders, sponsors and event owners to define clear objectives and articulate expected value to organization. Integrate schedule/cadence across plans to optimize event impact and value. Communicate regularly to ensure awareness and alignment through inception, planning, delivery and evaluation.
  • Integrate leading-edge learning methodologies, technology and communication tools to deliver ground-breaking development and event experiences. Advise and support event owners to maximize impact and value.
  • Develop and execute project plans for end-to-end coordination, managing timelines and dashboards to meet key milestones and deliverables. Identify resource requirement s and coordinate internal partner and vendor support (e.g., AbbVie Innovation Center, BSG, external consultants and vendors).  Evaluate, analyze and archive development events to ensure lessons learned are captured and integrated into future planning
  • Lead PPS Event Excellence community to continuously improve inspiration, innovation ,ideation, implementation, and ultimate impact of internal event planning capabilities.
  • Develop, maintain and optimize PPS communication platform to drive engagement, collaboration, business results and culture change
  • Develop and execute PPS Portal strategy. Establish portal content development and maintenance plan to ensure innovative and collaborative portal page and associated PPS link (banner, PPS Radio, etc.)
  • Integrate leading-edge technology , communication, KM and social collaboration tools into PPS  communication platform to drive key messages
  • Align communication strategy and technology to support PPS engagement strategy. Support PPS Annual Communication/Events Plans and PPS, RQS, R&D and AbbVie culture campaigns (e.g., AbbVie Ways We Work, R&D Culture efforts, PPS Give back 20%) with creative messaging and innovative technology.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Advanced degree in relevant field (Communication, Organizational Development, Project Management) required; PMP desirable.

Experience and Expertise

  • Extensive project /program management experience requiring planning and organizing across multiple projects and functions
  • Experience developing and executing complex communication plans within a global matrixed organization
  • Mastery of project management tools and templates to ensure successful planning and achievement of key milestones. Excellent organizational skills, demonstrated sense of urgency, strong goal orientation, and a history of meeting objectives and deadlines.
  • Experience developing creative approaches to support organizational engagement and development, including innovative event planning.
  • Fluency in innovative learning methodologies, new media and social collaboration tools. Experience developing and managing portal and Sharepoint teamsites
  • Ability to work directly with and influence diverse stakeholders including senior management
  • High Emotional and Connectional Intelligence, creativity and innovation. Superb relationship management, influence  and communication skills
