Just Evotec Biologics is seeking a motivated and creative scientist who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. This person will join a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team to supply and support cell culture media design. This individual will bring significant experience in mammalian cell culture and developing media formulations, along with expertise in experimental design and data analysis. Experience working with internal resources and vendors to mitigate raw material variation is a plus, as is experience in formulating novel powders with contract manufacturers for use in GMP and non-GMP environments. Experience with high throughput screening and lab robotics, such as Tecan liquid handlers and/or the ambr®15, is desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively over teleconference and web-based meetings, are necessary. The ideal candidate is curious, creative, engaged, works well independently and in teams, and constantly looks for ways to improve processes and technology.

Responsibilities:
•Develop novel media formulations to achieve high productivities, consistent product quality, and flexible operation
•Develop and implement screening strategies to optimize media formulations and cell culture operations
•Evaluate the physical properties of cell culture media, such as stability and solubility, and proactively investigate novel methodologies to characterize these properties
•Research and evaluate new technologies
•Work with vendors to onboard new media powders and mitigate raw material variability where identified
•Author reports and documents to support internal lab activities and regulatory filings as appropriate
•Support lab associates with media and buffer preparation if needed

Required qualifications:
•BS + 4 years or MS + 2 years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D in biology, biochemistry, engineering, or a related field
•Expertise in the requirements of CHO cell culture and media design
•Expertise with experimental design, optimization, and analysis
•Experience with transferring raw material specifications to a controlled, highly regulated, setting
•Ability to lift 35 pounds

Preferred qualifications
•Expertise with high throughput cell culture (e.g. deep-well plate assays, robotics, ambr®, etc.)
•Experience working with proteomic, metabolomic, and/or genomic datasets
•Strength in data science, informatics, and/or automation
•Experience working with vendors to support custom raw material formulations

Programming and data analysis with JMP, R, and/or Python
