Primary Job Function

The Finance Lead, Revenue Recognition supports the planning and analysis of U.S. revenue recognition, Gross to net Forecasting (GTN) and inventory related to Imbruvica. The role requires advanced critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a data-driven mindset.

The position reports into the Senior Manager Revenue Recognition and works closely with Market Access, Trade team for contracting scenarios, Finance Shared Services (FSS), FP&A Revenue Forecasting, as well as partnering with Logistics at AP5 and Janssen Commercial Finance Team.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Support all planning cycles and month end closing process by providing accurate forecasting and reporting of Pricing components vs. Plan / Prior year (LPA, NDC Mix, and GTN). 
  • Provide strategic insights as to where risk and opportunities exist in potential contracting and channel mix trends.
  • Partners with Market Access, supports the preparation of analyses / scenarios of potential contracting impacts on GTN
  • Supports the preparation of clear GTN “story” slides for Plan/LRP and LBE executive reviews, including highlighting key GTN variances vs benchmarks and providing graphical or other backup for support
  • Analyze ex-factory sales, chargeback, and rebate data to ensure quality and reliability, highlighting potential inaccuracies for correction, and provide assurance on rebate calculations for payment.
  • Supports the quarterly GTN Balance Sheet Reserve review.
  • Supports the revenue recognition review based on US-GAAP / revenue recognition policy for any new or amendment of customer contracts.
  • Supports the preparation of JBI Gross to Net collaboration reporting requirements.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of chargeback data (approving chargebacks for release). Partner directly with RxC to resolve discrepancies.
  • Analyze third-party reports and coordinate with AbbVie for proper allocation of customer discounts, chargeback following up on disputes.
  • Partner with Market Access on customer and distributor changes impacting master data and ensure data gets updated in SAP appropriately.
  • Coordinate with Market Access on shipping discrepancies, returns and credits and ensure appropriate resolution with AbbVie FSS, Operations, and Logistics at AP5.
  • Support revenue tracking analyses to manage guardrails, keep visibility to channel DOH trends/Distributors & Specialty Pharmacy levels.
  • Support monitoring of demand trends to avoid speculative buys and over stocking of inventory by distributors / inventory shortage.
  • Support forecasting for FP&A leadership with maximum visibility and lead time into anticipated actual results vs. forecasts.
  • Support annual state and federal pricing disclosure requirements, as well as ad-hoc requests from Market Access, Legal, and Government Affairs
  • Support the maintenance of internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley documentation related to revenue recognition and support audits of internal controls

Education, Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years experience in FP&A or Accounting in industry, pharmaceutical experience preferred
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to combine in-depth knowledge of pricing and inventory dynamics with a strong approach to data examination to draw conclusions from complex situations
  • Challenge status quo by benchmarking with industry best practices
  • Extremely strong communication skills, ability to craft messages through presentations with a compelling story in mind and data to back up conclusions, while keeping the audience’s interests and priorities paramount.
  • Efficiency in reviewing submissions from (non-directly managed) team members, swiftly identifying key areas for data questions/re-work and enhancing the message/takeaways before presenting to the next level of management
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle many timelines simultaneously, communicating, delegating, and driving execution towards key deadlines
  • Willing to ask important questions in meetings to challenge status quo of ingrained processes, always seeking opportunities for improvement in processes and methodologies.
  • Highly motivated to advance within the organization
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner across multiple functions as well as various levels of the organization
  • Sound understanding of intermediate mathematics and statistics
