Amgen is seeking talented Human Resources Professionals with a broad variety of HR experiences in client-facing and/or Center of Excellence (COE) roles with large, multi-national companies. This position is one of several opportunities that provide an excellent entry point to quickly learn Amgen, both the business and the HR function, while providing high visibility and opportunity to interact with an extensive range of HR and business leaders.

The Site HR Leader for Amgen Massachusetts (AMA) will work directly with the Vice President, AMA Site Head and Drug Substance Technologies (DST) Process Development to manage a world-class Operations site. With over 400 employees, Amgens campus in Cambridge is a world-class Process Development organization with proficiency spanning biology, chemistry and engineering. The site's focus includes small molecule manufacturing for clinical trials, and staff members from Process Development support product commercialization and advancement of manufacturing innovation at the facility. This role will also have a dual responsibility to serve as the HR leader for the Drug Substance Process Development function with a presence globally across Amgen.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Serve as the trusted advisor and coach for the AMA Site Head, Process Development leaders, and other site-based clients in areas of HR strategy, culture and engagement, leadership, talent management, rewards, diversity and inclusion, and change management.
  • A key focus of this high-impact role is developing and implementing innovative strategies to build engagement and a strong culture
  • Participate as an active member of the AMA site and DST functional senior leadership teams.
  • Develop and drive initiatives and programs that meet local needs while remaining aligned with global strategies
  • Oversee execution of HR processes (onboarding, performance evaluation, compensation planning, career development, talent management) as well as provide ongoing coaching and training to people managers at the site
  • Serve as co-lead of the AMA Site Diversity Council and member of the Northeast Diversity Pipeline team, providing leadership and direction to the site Employee Resource Group leads and serving as an important connection point and guide for diversity, inclusion, and belonging at AMA and across the Northeast Region
  • Work with corporate HR, linking closely with the global Process Development HR team to facilitate two-way communication and collaboration
  • Partner with HR Centers of Expertise to create and implement changes, working to anticipate, coordinate, and plan programs at the site - ensuring HR initiatives add value to Amgens business goals
  • Partner with site and functional Chiefs of Staff / Strategy, Planning and Operations leads as well as Corporate Affairs to inform actions related to engagement, communication, and connectivity across staff
  • Represent Amgen at key local external activities across industry and academic affiliations, focusing on attracting top talent to the site and enhancing our reputation in the Northeast / New England Area
  • Execute HR projects across Process Development

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Human Resources experience

OR

Masters degree and 4 years of Human Resources experience

OR

Bachelors degree and 6 years of Human Resources experience

OR

Associates degree and 10 years of Human Resources experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Human Resources experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources for a large global or multinational organization
  • Strategic HR business partner experience or other client-facing experience strongly preferred
  • Breadth of experience in different areas of Human Resources (e.g., Staff Relations, Talent Management, Learning and Development, Compensation, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and platform skills, and ability to communicate to multiple different types of audiences both locally and globally
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced and global environment
  • Demonstrated ability to craft innovative strategies and deliver pragmatic solutions
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of how to use data to inform decisions
  • Ability to balance a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands
  • Self-directed, passionate about the work, and willing to take informed risks
  • Solid knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word
