We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to provide start-up and manufacturing support for cGMP operations. This individual will assist with the procurement of automated manufacturing equipment and will be responsible for the development of functional requirement specifications and automation design.  This position is responsible to create and maintain process recipes and automation design documentation of the manufacturing equipment. The position offers growth potential for an experienced automation engineer to join a rapidly growing company.

This position will provide automation engineering and technical support related to the operation, maintenance, installation, startup/commissioning, testing, and qualification of automated process equipment and systems within a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This may include production equipment such as bioreactors, chromatography skids, ultrafiltration skids, and other support equipment.  Routine system troubleshooting may be required in addition to the design, testing and documentation for new


Support the design, start-up and operation of manufacturing equipment and control systems used in the manufacture of GreenLight biopharmaceuticals.

  • Function as the system owner for all automation systems used in manufacturing, ensuring reliable performance and compliance to maintain qualification status.
  • Develop automated production methods for manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide manufacturing support during production runs, as needed.
  • Develop and implement a software lifecycle change management system
  • Implement automation design changes and upgrades.
  • Support the startup of new equipment and develop/review automation related design documentation
  • Support the execution of commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Automation programming and configuration for corrective and continuous improvement changes
  • Provide automation training for new personnel
  • Supports company and regulatory inspections as needed.
  • Support automated QC laboratory equipment and systems, as needed
  • Provide project management for the design, procurement, fabrication and/or commissioning phases associated with the assigned automation systems.


  • BS in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in cGMP biomanufacturing automation
  • Familiarity with bioprocessing equipment a plus.
  • Experience with PLC, DeltaV, Cytiva Unicorn systems and data historian system design/configuration is preferred
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills essential.
  • Ability to follow safety requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, and work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask, time management and prioritize activities.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently, as a team member in a matrix manufacturing team with other cross functional groups.
  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment
