Job Details

The Data Lake Steward is responsible to create an automated, scalable approach for data quality issue identification and remediation for the Regeneron Scientific Data Aggregation (SDA) platform to ensure Global Development data owner have the required tools and reports for the management of ingested data. As a deep technical authority, the Data Steward role ensures data-centric activities are aligned with the SDA Governance Team decisions and use applicable data standards, quality, governance processes, and overall standard methodologies. Coordinates with the Data Lake Manager in the development of SOPs, Working Practices, and other data handling standards.

In this role, you will:
  • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPI) standards and metrics to report data quality, accuracy, and timeliness and lead the activities for ingestion of data on the platform
  • Implement technology capabilities selected by the Scientific Data Aggregation Steering Committee and Governance Team for GxP and non-GxP environments within the SDA Platform
  • Represent the Scientific Data Enablement team to present data results, communicate data issues, identify data customer needs and potential data corrections to internal and external business customers
A typical day might include the following:
  • Implementing processes that promote fit-for-purpose data ingestion, data quality checks, necessary data transformation, participate/lead in standardization efforts, support transformations for data models supported, ensure data is usable in the analytical layer/s and help gather the visualizations needed that align with the Governance Committee strategy and decisions.
  • Lead working groups and handle routine projects related to data governance
  • Collaborate with Corporate IT to detail data custody and lineage, data documentation and secure treatment of critical data elements for areas responsible in the Data Lake. Collaborate with other technology teams and data scientists to extract, transform and load data from numerous sources from the enterprise.
  • Partner with Data Lake Manager on data quality & access management and to be trusted advisors to the source system data owners and partners while leading expectations of end users. And, partner across other Regeneron data lake initiatives to ensure efficient operating models, domain sharing, reuse, and clear/consistent engagement
  • Support the development cycle including plan, build, test and launch for the scope of data ingested and processed
To be considered:
  • BS/BA Degree with 5+ years (MS degree with 3+ years) of relevant experience in the following fields: data usage, data quality, with solid understanding of data governance, standards and practices in handling large datasets from numerous sources).
  • Knowledge and experience with Big data technologies and AWS Cloud environments
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in OwlDQ, Apache Griffin, and Alation
  • Strong experience in SQL and various Big data and AWS services such as Hive, S3, Athena, RedShift
  • Experience & familiarity with ingestion tools/patterns, storage and security of data.
  • Data Warehousing and ETL Tools
  • Experience with data analysis & visualization tools (e.g. Qlik, Superset)
  • Tools and Components of Data Architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of industry data standards e.g. CDISC.
  • Strong knowledge of tools for collecting and managing scientific and clinical data such as EDC and Real World Evidence data…etc
  • Strong knowledge of data aggregation tools and capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience integrating data from multiple sources.
  • Good problem solving, technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Strong knowledge of CFR Part 11 compliance
  • Strong track record of project and partner management
