How You Will Achieve It
  • Manage own time, professional development and accountable for own results.

  • Prioritize own workflow and assist in prioritizing the workflow of less-experienced colleagues.

  • Responsible for maintaining laboratory compliance.

  • Interpret and evaluate data in terms of accuracy, precision, trends, and potential Good Manufacturing Practices {also cGMP} impact and recommends appropriate corrective action where necessary.

  • Perform, document, record check, and troubleshoot qualitative or quantitative assays on samples using techniques that vary from use of standard laboratory equipment to highly modern and automated instrumentation.

  • Perform testing for semi-finished goods and finished goods testing, validation sample, and other testing in accordance with approved procedures and test methods, and record the test results in timely manner.

  • Investigate, analyze, problem solve, and communicate technical information to internal and external customers.

  • Ensure all reagents, biological indicators, process challenge devices, and reference standards are valid and stored according to requirement.

  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-oriented, team laboratory environment to analyze microchallenge and deyprogenation testing results in the Plant Sterilization Technology Laboratory.

  • Train and support less experienced analysts, working as a Certified Fellow Employee and mentor to aid in their development as analysts.

Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology Microbiology, Life Sciences highly preferred

  •  2+ years' experience in aseptic techniques, biological indicators, testing (in gel clot preferred) for Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry

  • Must be detail oriented, conscientious and have high reading comprehension skills.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in computerized systems.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion.

  • Must be able to perform a variety of microbiological or chemical procedures as required within the work area.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.

  • Comprehend mathematical concepts such as logarithms, algebraic, conversions, fractions, decimals, and rounding.

  • Ability to understand and follow written procedures.

  • Must be self-motivated and work with minimal direction.

  • Utilize good judgment in making decisions within limitations of recognized standard methods and procedures.

  • Must maintain cGMP compliance within the assigned laboratory.

  • Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, teamwork, and leadership skills.

  • Complete all training and written exams.

  • Must be able to temporarily work a flexible schedule to meet business needs

Nice-to-Have
  • Demonstrate proficiency in use of biological indicators for moist steam, dry heat, vaporous hydrogen peroxide, etc.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the performing endotoxin testing by gel clot and kinetic chromogenic and turbidimetric endotoxin testing.

  Physical / Mental requirements
  • Use computer terminal 3+ hours per shift, work with chemicals, work with biological materials, wear PPE (safety shoes/glasses, etc.). 

  • Standing up to 3-4 hours, sitting for up to 5-6 hours, twisting at waist 2 times per hour, regularly lift up to 10 pounds per activity 10 times per shift, occasionally lift a maximum of 50 pounds per activity 2 times per shift
