Research Scientist (Chemist)

Location:  New Haven, CT

Serve as member of the development team and execute formulation strategy for drug candidates; work with team to execute exploratory research and development of formulations for pre-clinical animal and clinical drug discovery, pharmacology, pharmacokinetic, and toxicology studies; manage contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs); support animal groups in preparing dosing solutions and designing vehicles for Biopharmaceutical Classification System II/IV compounds; prepare manufacturing batch records; prepare requests-for-proposals; select vendors;  monitor activities/emergent data of/from formulation development and manufacturing organizations; assemble/evaluate preclinical and clinical pharmaceutical study data and assist with drafting relevant sections of regulatory documents (e.g., INDs and NDAs).


Requires M.S. in a Pharmaceutical Science field (Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy) and 3 years of post-graduate experience in the job offered or in industrial drug characterization and development OR foreign equivalent/combination of education & experience.  Requires experience with 1) hands-on laboratory experience with BCS II/IV compounds and their formulations; 2) processing and analytical methods used for amorphous formulations; 3) writing and maintaining of quality control (QC) and standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation; 4) presenting complex information to scientists from other disciplines; 5) supervising subordinates.  Must have familiarity with: 1) cGMP regulations, 2) USP procedures, 3) Microsoft Office, & HPLC systems.  Must be able to present at least 2 publications sponsored by the American Chemical Society or American Association of Pharmaceutical Science (AAPS) and have a history of presenting at AAPS conferences.
