About Human Capital Strategy

The human capital landscape is rapidly evolving, and the role of HR is changing significantly across industries. Advances in digitization, data, and workforce dynamics presents notable opportunities and challenges that HR needs to contend with –and fast.  To succeed in this environment, the Human Capital Strategy function has been established within AbbVie’s HR organization with the ambition to guide Strategic Human Capital Decisions fueled by Data and Power AbbVie’s Human Capital Management processes with more Integrated Technologies and User-Centric Digital Capabilities.  We realize our ambition through the following pillars of work:

  • Drive our HR Strategic roadmap formulation and execution,

  • Lead our HR information strategy, determining our vision and approach to data and technology, in service of improved user experience and optimization,

  • Leverage data to inform human capital decisions and enterprise strategies, while also supporting AbbVie’s academic research collaborations, with a view towards positioning AbbVie as an industry HR thought leader,

  • Develop a Human Capital Planning capability, leveraging workforce reporting, while aligning to other planning processes, and

  • Continue maximizing third-party workforce investment and marketplace.

As the lead for the Human Capital Planning (HCP), this role will work closely with VP, Human Capital Strategy to spearhead HCP capability across our organization.  This position will partner with a cross-section of stakeholders from across Finance, Business, and HR COEs in the design, development, and execution of HCP processes – with a view to build this capability and team out at AbbVie over time.  In addition to developing and leading the Human Capital Planning process, this position and their team will serve as a key liaisons/consultants to create and facilitate best in class workforce planning and management enabling business growth and forecasts. 

Key Responsibilities include: 

Partner with cross-functional teams and leaders across HR and the business to develop and manage AbbVie’s Human Capital Management strategy and process  

Responsible for driving forecasting, interpreting and reporting human capital data to enable business consulting and partnership with HR COEs including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Third-Party workforce, among others to ensure all business workforce needs are supported 

Inform and engage VP HCS, CHRO, HRLT, business, and functional stakeholders as partners throughout this journey to scale workforce planning and help leaders guide company's future talent investments across our footprint. 

Build a roadmap towards more Strategic Workforce Planning 

Provide guidance and consultation to key stakeholders on all matters related to workforce planning, support ad hoc analysis as well as specific strategic workforce planning activities  

Present deliverables with emphasis on translating data and results into actionable insights and recommendations for workforce planning 

Grow and oversee a workforce planning team (over time) with a view to build and foster partnerships with global business leaders on human capital planning strategy and resourcing requirements  

Drive implementation of a robust workforce planning software/digital solutions and analytics platform 

Lead change management processes, such as supply/demand planning and reconciliation

Qualifications

Having worked with different kinds of people, you know how to flex your style to the situation. You have the ability to consider issues from multiple perspectives and connect the dots on seemingly disconnected ideas. 

Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience. 

Experience with workforce planning, resource management, or human resources. 

Experience leading large-scale projects, including those with deliverables with high visibility to senior leaders. 

Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and project management skills. 

Excellent analytical and data visualization skills. 

Ability to be very strategic and influence the organization towards key outcomes and be tactical such as building out the analysis that inform human capital decisions 

strong executive presence with great attention to details and excellent interpersonal skills·  

Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; prior financial budget and forecasting experience preferred·  

Ability to execute on multiple concurrent deliverables with sense of urgency· Experience in managing / addressing escalations from senior leaders· Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools (specifically Word and Excel, Access is a plus
