Director, Pharmaceutical and Biologics Strategy and Operations

The Director, Pharmaceutical and Biologics Strategy and Operations will work closely with the PBO Leadership team, Human Resources, and Finance to ensure collaboration, cross-functional clarity and alignment on strategy and operations. This role will have a particular focus on People strategy. Scope of the role includes:
  • Managing and planning PBO Leadership Team processes at the operational and strategic levels
  • Ensuring clear definition and overall successful execution of functional goals related to Development Products, Commercial Supply, People, and Capabilities
  • Linking overall departmental strategy to specific product, team, and functional initiatives
  • Leading and participating in strategic projects as needed in order to support the business.

  • Lead and manage PBO strategy development and ensure key strategies are deployed and acted on
  • Manage and facilitate regular meetings for the PBO Leadership Team and the leadership sub-teams responsible for Pharmaceutical and Biologics strategy and operations
  • Develop, communicate, and track execution of PBO People strategy, in close collaboration and partnership with HR and Finance
  • Develop and refine functional business reviews (Quarterly Business Reviews) for all PBO functions, in close partnership with the PBO Leadership team
  • Establish working, collaborative relationships with key cross functional stakeholders within PDM and Gilead. Represent PBO on cross-functional initiatives as needed
  • Lead strategic initiatives related to organizational design, product strategy, and business process improvement from development through successful implementation / execution
  • Work with the PBO LT, HR, and Finance to ensure priorities are aligned cross-functionally, departmental leaders are collaborating, and leadership team processes are supporting effective collaboration
  • Support and lead work in other strategic areas as needed.

  • BS required. MBA and/or graduate degree desired.
  • 12+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience
  • Significant technical experience in CMC development, commercial manufacturing, supply chain management, or other related discipline
  • High business acumen and strategic thinking ability
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, as well as critical thinking that results in significant business value
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to influence, lead consensus-building, and manage conflict in challenging situations
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deliverables and timelines across senior teams, including synthesizing of information from disparate sources
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deal effectively with ambiguity
  • Attention to detail, ability to organize data required
