Senior Principal Scientist, Early Development Predictive Sciences
We are seeking an innovative scientist to join our Early Development Informatics and Predictive Sciences team. This group of computational biologists is responsible for advancing Bristol-Myers Squibbs industry-leading Early Clinical Development pipeline through the strategic application of state-of-the-art computational approaches. The scientists in this group are responsible for the design of experiments and analysis of a wide array of datasets in both the pre-clinical and clinical space to develop patient enrichment strategies, discover novel biomarkers and diagnostics, and guide drug development decisions. The group interacts with and influences all aspects of R&D at BMS, from early discovery through late-stage development. This scientist can work in any of the following locations: Seattle WA, Redwood City CA, San Diego CA, Cambridge MA, Lawrenceville NJ, or Summit, NJ.
Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) has a mission to drive predictive informatics research across BMS. The role of IPS encompasses a broad range of computational research, from cutting-edge bioinformatics to discover new therapeutic targets to applied machine learning in order to optimize clinical trial design and predict patient outcomes. The Early Development Predictive Science team focuses on computational research to progress BMS' Early Development clinical pipeline.
This individual would be responsible for leading the analysis and integration of clinical and translational data from immune-oncology and cell therapy clinical trials, in collaboration with Early Clinical Development and Translational Research. The scientist would analyze datasets spanning RNASeq, WES, single-cell sequencing, immunophenotyping and cytokines, with the goal of guiding early-stage clinical development of the BMS pipeline, informing trial design, and enabling patient enrichment strategies. They would develop and drive collaborations with other bioinformaticians, statisticians, biologists, and clinicians to design and execute computational analysis to impact our Early Phase Clinical Development portfolio.
- Ph.D. in bioinformatics, molecular biology, statistics, physics, genetics, or similar area
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Extensive background in Oncology or Immunology and experience working with clinical trial data in a drug development setting
- Broad experience with data generated by one or more high-throughput molecular assays: next-generation sequencing, metabolomics, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry proteomics, etc.
- Strong experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R, Python or MATLAB for complex data analysis and reproducible research practices
- Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills, and rigorous and creative thinking
- Exceptionally strong communication, data presentation and visualization skills
- Demonstrated ability to derive impactful biological insight from computational analysis of clinical trial data
- Ability to independently develop understanding of key program questions and formulate and execute analysis plans to address these questions
- Capability to establish strong working relationships across and within organization
