Job Description:

The R&D Capacity Planning & performance analyst will work with the leadership team to define/refine & implement the vision and strategy around capacity planning including resources/external costs forecasts and actual time tracking. He/she is responsible for ensuring that project teams and functions can deliver the agreed capacity and performance targets in a cost effective and timely manner. He/she considers all resources required to deliver the projects, and plans for short, medium- and long-term business requirements. To build the capacity management within IPSEN, the capacity planning analyst will have to start understanding current practices and way of working. This analysis of the current situation will help to better understand pain points which will have to be shared as a common understanding and agreement among the decision makers on how capacity is measured, monitored, and planned. The Capacity planner liaises with members of the GRDO, R&D organization and asset team to align the resources with external costs and timelines for various programs in development and determine overall impact on the Portfolio. In the future state also responsible for setting up the resource forecasting (internal/external) for other functions beyond R&D. He/she also needs to focus on continuous improvements/best practices over the coming years and ensure the methodology/process is effectively linked to our S/4 Hana implementation


The candidate for this role will have proven thought leadership business processes management, having demonstrated vision as well as an ability to execute. They will also be a skilled organizational influencer and people leader as well as an expert in resources planning tools. The Capacity Planning Analyst is responsible for the following:

Implement an end-to-end capacity management process within IPSEN which will:

oServe the future asset centric team for resources forecast not limited to R&D only.

oHave to establish cross-organizational teams on resources forecast and capacity planning within IPSEN

oSupport Functions for resources forecasts and availabilities

oSupport HR to build the workforce planning

oBe in close contact with Finance in budgeting exercises, rebilling and Tax credit.

oBe a key player in Portfolio Management activities supporting decision making process and allocation of resources

oIn the future state also responsible for setting up the resource forecasting (internal/external) for other functions beyond R&D

Implements Time Tracking as component of capacity planning exercise. Oversees process of tracking time, refines this based on business need to ensure compliance and quality data for capacity planning work. Responsible for monthly maintenance of the time tracking tool to align with new hires, departures and ensuring compliance in R&D employee completion of their timesheets. Responsible for generating monthly time tracking reports and sending to the wider R&D organization

Prepare the capacity plan, which should be the operating document for he/she to measure against. The capacity plan will be a living document that flexes and changes with needs of the business. The plan should reference business changes, plans, or projects that may impact capacity, current capacity levels and thresholds for each functions and projects teams on financial and human resource. He / she will have to evaluate the current tools that need to be put in place and propose ways of improvement throughout existing tools or propose integrated solutions connected to financial and portfolio management tools.

He/she will have to establish a regular capacity review meeting with leaders of functions and projects team to examine the capacity plan against the capacity measures. These meetings will have to be defined and totally integrated in various Financial exercises and Portfolio Management activities.

Lead Resource forecast, time tracking, capacity planning.  focus on continuous improvements/best practices over the coming years and ensure the methodology/process is effectively linked to our S/4 Hana implementation

Liaises with members of GRDO, Asset Teams, R&D Organization to ensure resource planning and actuals align with the business needs, timelines, external costs for the programs

Liaises with GRDO and R&D for annual Portfolio Reviews, 5YP, 10 YP and budgeting exercise to ensure long range capacity plan is accurately depicted for the portfolio.

Supports the GRDO team members and due diligence team to ensure proper resource forecast is built into the cost models to evaluate value on the asset

Create IPSEN community around resources management and built a team as required to support the future asset centric organizational model.

Subject matter expert for numerous business capabilities and associated business processes across multiple functions within domain.

Establish and develop effective business relationships with key leaders and stakeholders to ensure IT can deliver solutions which align with business strategies and divisional priorities.

Facilitate business process change within the relevant divisions and functions. Develop strong collaborative relationships with IT colleagues to ensure delivered solutions and services can be appropriately leveraged and value realized.

Collaborate on the development of business cases for future programs and define measurable business outcomes.

Increase quality, compliance and reliability of data for resources management and time tracking

Key Technical Competencies Required


•Must have a proven track-record of 8+ years working in large and/or complex programs, preferably within the pharmaceutical R&D Operations domain.

•Knowledge and experience of R&D business process modeling and process optimization skills is preferred.

•Strong skillset in resources management, capacity planning and knowledge in Portfolio management.

•Excellent analytical skills. Must have experience in pharmaceutical industry and an understanding of the drug development and commercialization process.

•Demonstrated ability to analyze and define business processes is required.

•Demonstrated ability to use structured problem solving and available tools to quickly evaluate problems, identify root cause, create action plans, assess impact and develop resolution options.

•Ability to effectively elicit complex business requirements in both small and large settings across audiences including business and IT professionals.

•Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence the scope/direction of initiatives across multiple levels of management and organizational boundaries

•Superior verbal communication skills with expert proficiency in framing and delivering messages via multiple modalities including collaboration technologies (SharePoint, Skype), PowerPoint presentations, and email.

•Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate and collaborate with employees and management at all levels.
