The Transportation Lead is primarily responsible for ensuring transportation operations are operating safely, compliantly, and efficiently. They are expected to have a detailed and working knowledge of transportation operations, industry practices and DOT/GMP compliance requirements. They need to have the capability to make decisions independently, develop solutions to routine and complex problems, and work collaboratively with internal and external customers. They will also regularly be called upon to complete routine transportation tasks.


The Transportation Lead must be able to perform all Truck Driver functions in addition to the following:

  • Set schedules, assign/rotate and dispatch workload to Truck Driver.

  • Leads IMEx T1 meetings and daily work plan

  • Participate in QASA, customer, DOT and FRA audits.

  • Assist in the design and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Investigate and resolve data integrity issues

  • Monitors transportation fleet and coordinates needed maintenance and repairs.

  • Promotes a strong safety mindset and ensures adherence to PPE matrices.

Truck Driver functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive various sized vehicles for the transportation of personnel, courier pouches, finished goods, mail, equipment, supplies, raw materials and other items for customer units.

  • Operate locomotive as required.

  • Independently develop daily schedules based on knowledge of customer units, their requirements, building locations and production needs.

  • Load and Unload trucks.

  • Perform SAP material movements.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and road rules (speed limits, stop signs, etc…)

  • Complete and verify all required paperwork.

  • Perform pre/post trip vehicle maintenance checks to comply with Department of Transportation regulations. Maintain working knowledge of all DOT regulations and HAZMAT requirements.

  • Comply with all State and Federal regulations as well as Standard Operating Procedures and GMP’s


  • Minimum of a High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 7 years applicable experience.

  • Prior applicable sitdown and standup forklift experience (Turret truck and sissor lift experience prferred)

  • Advanced knowledge and skills of warehouse management computer systems

  • Minimum of CDL-A with HAZMAT endorsement

  • Language Skills: Effective written and oral communication skills



  • Repetition of activities.

  • Climbing in/out of trucks

  • Stair climbing and extended standing and/or walking.

  • Frequent time around equipment with moving parts.

  • Ability to use warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Potential exposure to Penicillin/Cephalsporin products.  Allergies to Penicillin/Cephalsporin should be disclosed prior to hire?

  • Work will primarily be performed in controlled temperature conditions ranging between (15-30C), but operators could have potential to regularly work in conditions outside this range including (-20C, 2-8C, and ambient/outdoor).


  • Must be available for weekend and daily overtime as needed
