ROLE SUMMARY

The Mission of the Director, Innovative Sciences Operations (DISO) is to create a competitive advantage for Global Clinical Supply (GCS) by providing innovative solutions to support the Clinical Development portfolio, in particular accelerated initiatives and Lightspeed programs.    The DISO will own efforts from idea to production, and will leverage an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for innovation.

This role will be responsible for managing several innovation projects in critical areas including but not limited to:

  • Develop and establish innovation objectives and a GCS portfolio with clear deliverables and impact on the Clinical Portfolio and Lightspeed programs in collaboration with other ISO leads, functional teams and partner lines.
  • Influence the broader organization by identifying, evaluating, and incorporating new technologies that will provide the most added value for ISO and GCS.
  • Collaborate with functional teams in a matrix environment to drive alignment between sciences investment and research goals.
  • Manage and execute innovation projects with internal and external business partners to ensure timely delivery of milestones and business impact in GCS.

The DISO will manage a global network of GCS resources and external collaborators who are passionate about innovation and cutting-edge technologies. The DISO will deliver projects from idea through adoption in our highly complex ecosystems with impeccable attention to rigorous delivery standards.

The DISO will support the development of GCS strategic needs and identify key future gaps and project charters.  The DISO will address project challenges and prioritization while considering reliability, impact, and cost of operations.

The DISO will be responsible for research, delivery, and adoption of many advanced sciences and technologies in support of all GCS functional lines.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead GCS innovation efforts and incubation activities globally with the goal of finding, delivering and adoption of solutions with substantial impact potential for Clinical Supply Chain and the R&D portfolio.

Establish a global framework and operating model for the Innovative Sciences Operations that will match new technologies to high value business objectives.

Manage executive stakeholder collaborations by acting as a partner, trusted advisor and leading through influence.

Form partnerships with innovative, cutting-edge companies that align with the goals and strategy of GCS, while managing risk and selecting investments methodically.

Lead technical processes and standards across the GCS organization, establishing benchmarking within Pfizer and external ecosystem.

Define and maintain a clear prototype/POC delivery handover process from idea through product delivery, knowledge transfer, and support model establishment to GCS functions while adhering to timelines.

Create new and/or support existing ISO information sharing channels to include but not limited to technology forums, speaker series, online posts, and newsletters, – as a means to disseminate the expanded knowledge and expertise to GCS as well as the broader Medicinal Sciences community.

Lead market outreach by engaging with external vendors and clients on technology and innovation activities.

Develop a deep focus and awareness on new and emerging trends in Supply Chain, Clinical Supplies, and health technologies that enable GCS to have touchpoints with our clinical trial patients in every stage of their journey.

Refine appropriate measures of success and evaluation strategy in partnership with the ISO and the GCS leadership team,

Host tech meetups with technology vendors, open-source community and peer tech teams from Clinical Supply, Supply Chain, Pharmaceutical and other industries with the goal of sharing lessons learned and practical experiences.

Direct knowledge sharing and create effective communication about innovation strategy and roadmaps.

Identify and assess, in collaboration with Business Development and Pfizer Innovation hubs, deployable products and services to ensure GCS innovation projects become self-sustaining.

Build a delivery model and execution arm that will bring Innovative Sciences Operations programs from concept to deployment within a structured and compliant framework, assessing security and scale, as well as commercial viability in the marketplace.
