We are looking for a Director of Procurement, who will join our journey to establish the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO facility in North America. You will be responsible for setting the direction and managing a central workstream in a $2 billion global project.

As the Director of Procurement, you will have the strategic role of developing world-class procurement processes and frameworks. You will be responsible for managing this function and work closely with Finance, Legal, workstreams and 3rd parties to ensure procurement activities are carried out in accordance with company standards.

We are growing our locations and are investing more than $2 billion into establishing a new large-scale manufacturing site for biopharmaceuticals in the United States to accelerate the growth of our Bio CDMO (Contract and Development Manufacturing Organization) business. This will be the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO provider in North America.

The new site will offer end-to-end solutions to our customers looking to manufacture biopharmaceuticals in the US. In addition to drug substance manufacture, it will also provide automated fill-finish and assembly, packaging, and labeling services. The new site is to be located in Holly Springs, North Carolina, United States.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the procurement team as overall responsible for all procurement activities for the site
  • Develop the procurement function and frameworks to get the procurement function in line with world-class standards
  • Develop strategic souring plans/pipeline
  • Responsible for procurement related costs, capital expenses (CAPEX) and operating expenses (OPEX)
  • Drive development of supplier negotiation strategy and pricing negotiations with vendors
  • Ensure that procurement is completed to a consistently high standard, within budget, and that objectives are met on time, suiting the company's vision and objectives
  • Leverage design and procedures prepared in similar Fujifilm project in Denmark
  • Lead benchmarking, market analysis and cost modeling activities
  • Ensure compliance to all policies and procedures
  • Lead procurement activities in collaboration with work stream leads
  • Vendor management
  • Ensure project implementation is well received throughout the organization

 

Requirements

Preferred Requirements

  • +7 years relevant project management experience from a similar position in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical development and manufacturing environment managing a portfolio of multiple complex programs
  • Previous experience leading global procurement and souring responsibilities, supplier selection, risk and compliance evaluation, contract negotiation and financial analysis.
  • Previous strategic experience in large scale, modular bio-pharmaceutical projects
  • Previous experience leading groups in different countries and cultures

Basic Requirements

  • Master in Technical Engineering or equivalent
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge within procurement concepts, policies and procedures
  • Experience in a cGMP facility or working with FDA regulations.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English
  • Knowledge of bio-pharmaceutical production within Fill Finish, Utility, Pen's/devices, and Automation/IT is an advantage
