Job Details

Within the Procurement department, the Outsourcing & Contracts Manager contributes to and supports the company's site budgets and contracts, clinical, and research outsourcing to create high value therapeutics to address unmet medical needs. Applies a framework to drive efficient, consistent, and compliant processes for vendor relationship and management. Manages the development, negotiation, and execution of vendor contracts. Creates formal networks involving coordination among various functions. Oversees and manages all aspects of outsourced services in accordance with Nektar SOPs, ICH/GCP regulations and study-specific manuals and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements and metrics that will have the greatest impact on improving the contracting processes
  • Serves as a liaison with internal stakeholders and/or external customers regarding contracts related topics
  • Monitors partner relationships to meet contracting expectations of services and requests
  • Analyzes and understands the scope of work, budget estimate, legal terms and conditions of contracts to assess alignment with research study assumptions and scope; shares recommendations to senior management on contract structure
  • Ensures adherence to established contracting policies and procedures by providing compliance information to various departments
  • Notifies management of compliance deficiencies and relationship issues
  • Compiles contractual information for budget and financial purposes, complex cost reimbursements and billing
  • Interfaces with a variety of senior internal and external customers providing guidance and information on complex contractual matters to meet requirements for contracts
  • Identifies and disseminates information to critical personnel about updates to contracts
  • Works with appropriate management team members to ensure monetary information for contracts is adequate
  • Ability to transfer skillset and may also support outsourcing and contracting activities in other areas of company such as commercial, medical affairs, and/or G&A

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in business, biology, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in research, clinical development, contract management, vendor management or related experience
  • Comprehensive experience of contract requirements, budget analysis and strong negotiations skills
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and customer service skills are essential
  • Demonstrate time management, project management, multi-tasking skills
