Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare.

As the Manager of FP&A, you will be a key business partner to various department leads, including the R&D, Operations & Commercial functions. This includes guiding and supporting the budgeting process, the quarterly forecasting cycle, and providing ad hoc analysis for decision-making support.  You will support Element Biosciences’ growth by providing strategic support across the organization, ensuring smart business decisions, and effective capital allocation, all while handling a variety of other responsibilities at a rapidly growing company. This role requires a self-starter with excellent business modeling skills, keen attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a good track record of influencing decisions. This role also has regular interaction with various business leaders across Element Biosciences and requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Support financial reporting activities and variance analytics.
·         Coordinate and deliver accurate and timely monthly/quarterly business reporting packages to business partners.
·         Influence leaders and team members on the prioritization of spending in helping to deliver against financial targets.
·         Manage and support the annual/quarterly budgeting and forecasting planning process for select functional areas for operating expense/headcount/capital expenditure.
·         Develop a good understanding of key performance drivers & issues relating to budget and actual results ensuring key issues, risks, and business drivers are understood and highlighted to business partners.
·         Drive development and implementation of key process improvement initiatives by proactively engaging with finance colleagues and business partners to develop continuous process improvements to planning, analyses, and reporting.
·         Partner with business leaders on corporate initiatives as they arise, including financial modeling and analysis for key business initiatives and projects.
·         Enhance upon the cashflow forecast process and working capital programs.
·         Other duties that may arise in the normal course of business.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
·         Must demonstrate an ability to build strong relationships and establish credibility with diverse audiences and work collaboratively to deliver meaningful analyses and decision support.
·         Ability to deliver results and possess a strong drive to meet and exceed goals and be willing to take ownership of problems and make sound decisions.
·         Proven ability to deliver on time, with a manufacturable solution.
·         Resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; a “can-do” attitude is a must.
·         Independent self-starter and a proactive leader, demonstrating strong influencing and communications capabilities.
·         Strong understanding of financial models and business economics and the ability to apply such an understanding in a manner that results in great decision making.
·         Proven ability to work cross-functionally with all stakeholders in time-sensitive, performance-driven environments.
·         Can orchestrate multiple projects at once, keeping things on track while keeping stakeholders in the know.
·         Direct experience with financial systems, including NetSuite, Cognos/TM1, and other business intelligence tools.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
·         Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Accounting, or equivalent field of study; advanced degree or certification a plus (e.g., MBA, CPA and/or CFA), (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered).
·         5-8 years of relevant experience in the field of finance, whether financial planning or accounting, preferably in the biotech or healthcare-related industry.
·         Advanced Excel skills with the ability to create and operate complex financial and scenario models.
·         Ability to create automated or semi-automated reporting.
·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and communicate with all levels of the company.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
·         Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
·         Must be able to lift 15 pounds

TRAVEL: 
·         Domestic travel, upwards of 10%, maybe required on an infrequent basis
