Associate Director/Director, Early DevelopmentInformatics &Predictive Sciences

We are seeking an innovative scientist to join our Translational & Early Development Predictive Sciences team. This group of computational biologists is responsible for advancing Bristol-Myers Squibbs industry-leading Early Clinical Development pipeline through the strategic application of cutting-edge bioinformatics approaches. The scientists in this group design experiments and analyze both pre-clinical and clinical-omics data sets, including RNA-Seq, exome, single-cell sequencing, cytokine and proteomics to develop translational hypotheses for predictive patient enrichment strategies, novel biomarkers and diagnostics to guide drug development decisions. This scientist can work in any of the following locations, Seattle WA, Redwood City CA, San Diego CA, Cambridge MA or Lawrenceville NJ.

Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) has a mission to drive predictive informatics research across BMS. The role of IPS encompasses a broad range of computational research, from cutting-edge bioinformatics to discover new therapeutic targets, to applied machine learning to optimize clinical trials and predict patient outcomes. The Early Development Predictive Science team focuses on cutting edge informatics research to progress BMS' Early Development clinical pipeline.

Responsibilities

This individual would be responsible for leading the Early Clinical Development Predictive Sciences translational strategy in collaboration with Early Clinical Development and Translational research and manage or mentor scientists in the group to deliver on this strategy. They would also be responsible for performing analysis of omic datasets including RNASeq, WES, single cell sequencing and/or cytokines to inform trial design, enable patient enrichment strategies and early stage clinical development of the BMS pipeline. They would develop and drive collaborations with other bioinformaticians, statisticians, biologists and clinicians to implement and translational analysis to impact our Early Phase Clinical Development portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, molecular biology, statistics, physics, genetics, or similar
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Background in Immunology and/or Cardiovascular Disease/Oncology and experience working with translational multi-modal patient data in a drug development setting
  • Experience bringing computational methodology to develop translational hypotheses
  • Strong experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R, Python for complex data analysis and reproducible research practices
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, rigorous and creative thinking
  • Exceptionally strong communication, data presentation and visualization skills
  • Ability to strategically prioritize analysis across a large number of projects
  • Proven ability to work across large organizations to define and solve problems that will benefit the whole
  • Strong publication record
