Accounts Payable Specialist

The Position:

This enthusiastic and detail-oriented person will serve as the backbone of the accounts payable function for the Company. This role is responsible for processing full cycle accounts payable and monthly accruals related to the A/P area.

Responsibilities

  • Process invoices (including 3-way match), expense reports and credit memos
  • Matching invoices to back-up documentation
  • Providing and/or reviewing GL account coding
  • Preparing and initiate wires
  • Research and resolve vendor invoice discrepancies
  • Maintain excellent communication and relationships with vendors and employees
  • Prepare month-end accruals related to the A/P area (items received but not invoiced, vendor accruals, etc) and reconciliations
  • Maintain electronic vendor files
  • Prepare annual 1099s filing
  • Assist in external auditor quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Coordinate/resolve issues of accounting matters with other internal and external personnel within area of responsibility
  • Ensure compliance with Company accounting policies and the application of generally acceptable accounting principles
  • Assist in accounting process improvements as needed
  • Maintain and enhance A/P desktop procedures
  • Ad hoc reporting and assistance with projects, as requested
  • Other tasks as requested

Qualifications

  • Accounting degree or equivalent experience of at least 5+ years of previous accounts payable experience
  • Public company experience required
  • Full understanding of the A/P and PO processing cycle required
  • Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups)
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A positive, self-confident and decisive work ethic with excellent communication skills
  • A proactive approach to attacking problems and identifying solutions, displaying initiative and perseverance in order to bring about meaningful change; open and responsive to new ideas
  • Approachable customer service orientation and “can do” attitude
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience working in biotechnical industry preferred
  • Bill.com and NetSuite experience preferred
