The Genitourinary (GU) franchise is one of Pfizer Oncology’s top 2 revenue generating portfolios with revenues estimated to achieve $4B in 2022 and $6B+ as the late stage pipeline comes to market.  The franchise is comprised of market leading brands in kidney cancer (INLYTA, SUTENT), bladder cancer (BAVENCIO) and prostate cancer (XTANDI, ORGOVYX) and exciting pipeline brands currently in Ph3 trials with launches in the operating plan window (talazoparib, sasanlimab). Pfizer has a longstanding heritage in the GU community and remains dedicated to delivering breakthrough therapies to address the unmet needs of patients living with these cancers.

The GU Franchise was recently formed to enhance Pfizer’s ability to meet the needs of external stakeholders and realize synergies across our brands. The Strategy Lead will define the mid to long-term global franchise strategy inclusive of management of portfolio investments, decisions on cross-tumor resourcing, support for early commercial and business development assessments and maintenance of a strong cross-tumor communication platform. 

This position will report directly to the VP, Global Commercial, GU Franchise and will serve as part of the GU Franchise LT.  Deliverables will be advanced in partnership with the Global Prostate and RCC/ Bladder Portfolio Team Leads, Global Medical, Early Commercial Development, Corporate Affairs and the Global Medicine teams.   

The Strategy Lead role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced colleague to shape a growing and dynamic portfolio of mature and pre-launch brands and participate in BU level growth initiatives.    

Role responsibilities include:

Franchise Strategy

  • Define the long-term value and operational strategy for the GU franchise
  • With cross-functional partners, lead the development of the franchise LRF and Op Plan
  • Work with Clinical, Early Commercial Development (ECD) teams to build and deliver pipeline strategies for GU tumors
  • With ECD and Clinical, build innovative development strategies for assets that have treatment potential across tumor franchises (eg sasanlimab)
  • Manage ALPINE advisory committee efforts at Franchise level in partnership with Early Commercial Development and Clinical
  • Support optimal management of Alliance partnerships (Myovant, Astellas, Merck KGaA) with Prostate and RCC/Bladder Team Leads
  • Align with Brand Leads to deliver a consistent approach to portfolio management and customer partnerships

Franchise Investments

  • Lead financial evaluations and commercial assessments of business development opportunities
  • Provide analytic support for franchise investments and global resourcing decisions
  • Work with Business Development to prioritize MOAs, scientific targets of interest

Franchise Communications

  • Develop and maintain GU communication platform and resources for use internally and externally
  • Prepare communications for senior leadership on portfolio value, growth expectations and investment recommendations
  • With Corporate Affairs, lead issues management efforts for topics impacting brands, partnerships

  

KEY EXPERIENCES & CAPABILITIES

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 15 years of diverse commercial experiences in the pharmaceutical industry: inline and pipeline marketing, market analytics, franchise and corporate strategy, customer and account management, business development
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Above-market (regional or global) experience
  • Demonstrated success in a managing multiple assets in a portfolio
  • Demonstrated success in working in matrixed environments; proven ability to build and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • Track record of working well with external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated track record of leading with compliance and integrity
  • Experience developing ops/ business plans and representing novel opportunities, brand plans, and issues management plans to senior leadership
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; able to distill key messages and build compelling communication on complex issues
  • Strong project management experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Advanced degree preferred
