Position Summary:

The Research Scientist will conduct in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical research to optimize the stimulation of the immune system, and dermal stimulation and lesion ablation using the Nano-Pulse Stimulation Platform. Conduct additional pre-clinical research where the data indicates further research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting in vitro biological and molecular techniques, including cell culture and bioassays (i.e. ELISA, flow cytometry, histology and gene expression analysis).
  • In vivo skills such as handling and treating rodents, tissue sampling, ex vivo post processing of tissues.
  • Design experiments and using syngeneic or transgenic mouse tumor models to optimize tumor ablation, anti-tumor stimulation of the immune system, dermal treatments for stimulation and lesion ablation and explore novel mechanisms of action; conduct multiple studies in parallel as needed.
  • Review and provide assessments/analysis of scientific studies; strive to identify workflow improvements to meet project timelines.
  • Lead role for studies, training, and other projects as needed.
  • Interacting with other functions with interdepartmental projects, project planning, etc.
  • Give presentations at internal meetings and scientific conferences; prepare research manuscripts for internal review and submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Working closely in teams executing protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

  • BS with 8 years, MS with 5 years or PhD with 3 years of experience in biological science required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in biomedical engineering biotech, life sciences field; industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience generating and treating tumors in vivo in rodents, including survival surgical experience.
  • Experience with sterile technique, cell culture, standard cellular/molecular biological techniques.
  • Understanding, planning, coordinating and conducting complex research studies.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills; experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate and work well in a team environment.


Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:

  • Proficient knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent oral written communication skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work conscientiously and with minimal direction, using good judgment, taking initiative to accomplish short and long-range projects, and recommend actions with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work as a team member, multi-task and be very flexible to adapt to the ever-changing work priorities and requirements of a dynamic, fast growing company.
  • Ability to lift 10-15 pounds.
