Job Description
Virscio is seeking a Data Manager to perform data entry and collation, data quality control (QC) and data analysis and interpretation, working in close coordination with Study Directors and research staff. The position additionally contributes to maintenance and expansion of the research platform, including supporting efforts to update facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), validating applied analytical software and technical training on data entry, collation and analysis methods. Primary responsibilities will include:


• Perform data entry, data QC and data analysis and interpret findings
• Employ software platforms to conduct analysis of images and complex data sets
• Maintain detailed records of all data handling and processing activities
• Support sample management, storage and shipping activities
• Maintain and develop proficiency with hardware and software platforms that facilitate data management, image processing and statistical analysis
• Perform image and histological analyses as guided by specific project needs
• Contribute to the assembly of data for study reports, manuscripts and meeting presentations
• Develop and provide training to research staff members on data entry templates and techniques
• Ensure data handling procedures are compliant with FDA and EMEA guidelines on preclinical research and remain aligned with any regulatory changes
• Author, edit and review facility SOPs
• Participate in the publication of data generated by contributing to the submission of manuscripts
• Support broader team logistical demands where necessary

Education/Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in the biological sciences or biostatistics required at a minimum
• Education or subsequent training spanning one or more core research areas strongly preferred, including ophthalmology, neuroscience, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, immunology, bioinformatics, biostatistics
• One year or more of experience in a pharma/biotech company or Contract Research Organization (CRO) environment strongly preferred

Additional Requirements
• Fluency in OS X and/or Windows operating systems, MS Word and Excel is critical
• Experience working with ImageJ, GraphPad Prism, Amira, R or Matlab preferred
• Ability to apply appropriate mathematical and statistical methods for analysis of study data
• Ability to effectively communicate scientific data interpretation and conclusions
• Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
• Demonstrated strong planning and organizational skills and keen attention to detail
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills
• Able to legally work within the U.S.
