R&D Specialist - Analytical Chemistry

Our Analytical Chemistry Group of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Tarrytown, NY, is seeking a Research Specialist. In this role you will be working in a state-of-the-art mass spectrometry lab and developing top-down and bottom-up mass spectrometry analytical methods for therapeutic protein product analysis. You will focus on the biochemical characterization of therapeutic protein at all stages of development, developing LC/MS methods for protein primary structure analysis, disulfide linkage determination, carbohydrate profiling, protein variant structural determination and post-translational modifications. Furthermore, you will conduct analytical methods qualification for late stage drug development programs. You may also develop LC/MS bioanalytical assays for quantitative analysis of therapeutic protein or biomarkers and perform quantitative bioanalysis. The individual will also be involved in developing innovative mass spectrometry technologies to support Regeneron's upstream R&D programs.

A TYPICAL DAY IN THE ROLE OF R&D SPECIALIST MIGHT LOOK LIKE:

•Develop LC-MS based analytical methods to support the development of monoclonal antibody-based therapeutic proteins;
•Execute a wide variety of LC-MS-based experiments on different instruments based on protocols provided in SOPs, literature, presentations, or by other scientists;
•Conduct analytical methods qualification to support the late-stage therapeutic protein development programs;
•Perform LC-MS data analysis using various software and bioinformatic tools to elucidate the quality attributes therapeutic protein candidates and/or products;
•Document experiments, results and findings in electronic laboratory notebook (ELN); presents work at the group and project meetings; participates in the writing of technical reports, SOPs, and analytical method protocols, etc.;
•Summarize results in a concise format (graphs, figures, tables, etc.) to support presentations, peer reviewed publications, regulatory documents, etc.;
•Participate in general lab and instrument maintenance

This role requires a BS or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field from an accredited university with 0-5+ years post-graduate experience in mass spectrometry. Knowledge and hand-on experience in LC-MS based protein, peptide and PTM analysis preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills needed. Ability to learn new technologies and solve problems preferred. Enthusiasm in science with a motivation of making contributions in a team environment preferred.
