The Director, Business Development will be responsible for leading business development projects within the key therapeutic areas for Immunology & Inflammation, Infectious Disease, and Metabolism. This position is highly collaborative and will encompass the full scope of our programs including: sourcing and evaluating new technologies and drug candidates for potential in-licensing transactions, developing and executing strategic plans and partnering opportunities that are aimed at maximizing the value of Regeneron’s portfolio and executing research collaboration agreements.

A typical day might include the following:

  • Sourcing: Responsible for sourcing partnering opportunities from the external landscape through attendance of industry partnering conferences, scientific & medical meetings, and review of scientific literature and databases.

  • Sourcing: Initiating contact with potential partners and fostering ongoing relationships as a primary representative of Regeneron.  

  • Evaluation: Leading teams to evaluate scientific and strategic aspects of partnering opportunities.

  • Evaluation: Developing and delivering presentations to communicate recommendations based on the team’s evaluation to support decision making from colleagues and Regeneron's Leadership. 

  • Execution: Negotiating and executing CDA, MTA/evaluation agreements, and licensing /collaboration agreements to support scientific evaluation and providing recommendations to Senior Management. 

  • Execution: Lead or co-lead internal deal teams including members from finance, legal and alliance management around term sheets and definitive agreements.

  • Strategy: Leading cross-functional teams to support development of strategic plans and recommendations for strategic initiatives related to the I&I, ID, and Metabolism therapeutic areas and related technology platforms.  

This role may be for you if you have:

  • Strong Business Development team leadership and project management skills with an ability to deliver high quality results on multiple projects in a time sensitive environment

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with an ability to influence senior level stakeholders within and outside Regeneron.  

  • Sophisticated understanding of the key areas of science and technology that are most relevant to Regeneron’s R&D efforts, including an ability to communicate effectively with members of the Regeneron R&D organization in the course of evaluating business development transactions. 

  • Strategic problem solving acumen with a sophisticated understanding of the business and strategic issues facing Regeneron and the broader biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong financial modeling skills and an understanding of financial concepts

  • The ability to effectively lead negotiations and execution of confidentiality and material transfer agreements and licensing/ collaboration agreements.

To be considered for this role you must possess, an advanced graduate degree (PhD, MD) in science or medicine, ideally in fields related to immunology, infectious disease and/or metabolism. 5+ years of work experience in a strategic and business-oriented function within the biopharmaceutical industry, academia, consulting, investment banking, and public/private investing.  Prior experience with negotiations and transactions is strongly preferred.
