EHS Specialist - Temporary Contractor
Regeneron is looking to hire an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist for a temporary contract. The position will be based at our HQ in Tarrytown. The role will work collaboratively across various site teams to keep safety awareness a critical focus for all team members. We believe the ideal candidate will have validated experience in the support and continuous improvement of dynamic safety programs in a manufacturing environment. Comprehensive site and employee safety is paramount for our EHS team, and we take the health and well-being of team members seriously.A typical day may include:
Executes EHS projects and tasks within limited parameters under regular supervision.
Writes clear and concise EHS related communications, including e-mails, letters, and job aids as required and assists with revising EHS policies and procedures.
Assists with scheduling of EHS contractor and consultant work including TSS, Grainger, SMG, safety glasses vendor, etc.
Assists with the Emergency Equipment inspection program including reviewing SMG reports for completeness and deficiencies, entering corrective work tasks into Tririga, and tracking actions to completion.
Conduct EHS related inspections including Common Area Safety Inspections, SPCC inspections, Emergency Use Respirator and SCBA Inspections. Document findings and follow up as needed to ensure completion.
May be asked to provide training as necessary and assists with EHS on the job training.
Perform data entry and document management for waste tracking documentation including biohazardous waste shipping documents, hazardous waste manifests, asbestos project reports, and radiation log sheets.
Inspects EHS waste storage spaces and stock rooms and assists with container inventory, spill kit inventory, and housekeeping. Assist with maintenance of proper EHS related signage.
Assists with oversight of waste treatment systems such as neutralization and biokill systems by participating in procedure development, inspections, and documentation review.
Writes clear and concise safety related communications, including e-mails, letters, and job aids as required and assists with revising safety related policies and procedures are required.
Collaborates with other members of the EHS team to support ongoing programs, initiatives, and activities.
Works with EHS team and key stakeholders in furthering environmental and operations program development.
Receives regular and general instruction, guidance, and direction from others on EHS projects in the form of specific objectives.
Assists in response to spills and other alarms, and conducts Incident Reports, input data, and assist in the coinciding investigations.
Assist with organization of the EHS file repository and EHS RON intranet webpage.

Have a foundation of technical EHS programs
You have proven written and verbal skills; analytical skills; some technical knowledge of equipment and laboratory operations
Ability to learn specialized software applications and specialized safety and industrial hygiene equipment.

You have an ability to execute tasks / projects with direction and can collaborate with contractors and external counterparts

To be considered for this role you must hold a Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years’ experience working within an EH&S arena. An advanced degree and/or certifications (Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, 40 hour HAZWOPER, Medical Emergency Technician, AED/CPR, valid driver’s license) are a plus. Validated computer skills - MS word, Excel, PPT, outlook and various business software applications.
