The Regeneron Genetics Center® (RGC) is a uniquely integrated research initiative that seeks to improve patient care by using genomic approaches to speed drug discovery and development. The Associate Director, Cloud Engineering & DevOps, is the IT lead for RGC’s Cloud platform. Partnering with our IT, Infosec, and scientific teams, you will help engineer and implement reliable infrastructure services on AWS from the ground up, to deliver highly scalable and compliant services.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills to lead the RGC DevOps team, drive operational efficiency and cost optimization, and provide excellent support to our scientific teams.

Key focus areas include

  • Develop and own best standards/methodologies for cloud infrastructure and DevOps processes
  • Analyze and comprehend how users are using the platform and help drive continuous improvements to the RGC’s cloud platform
  • Drive security, privacy, and compliance agenda, including in support of validation, certification, and accreditation processes for our cloud platform 

In this role, a typical day might include the following:

  • Lead the Cloud Engineering and DevOps function and manage all the operational processes
  • Engineer solutions, processes, and tools that drive self-service, automation, standardization, and seamless operations
  • Apply industry standards to ensure system and application security
  • Engineer and support continuous security compliance and cost optimization solutions
  • Drive standard methodologies, SOP documentation, and infrastructure as code for the RGC Cloud
  • Deploy and manage monitoring, metrics, and logging capabilities on RGC’s cloud engineering platforms
  • Design and Engineer tooling and solutions to manage life cycle of DevSecOps for AWS hosted infrastructure
  • Keep abreast of the latest advances in the cloud platforms and services and apply them to RGC cloud infrastructure as appropriate
  • Interact with key partners to clearly define and iterate on requirements
  • Provide end-user support, training, and documentation.
  • Partner with our Information Security team to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks related to Cloud Services.

To be considered for this role, you must have 12+ years of IT experience, 4+ years managing the AWS environment. Expertise in core AWS services EC2, EBS, S3, ELB, RDS, VPC, CloudFront, IAM, and monitoring tools. Tangible experience with Linux administration, CI/CD, automation using BOTO3/Lambda, and CloudFormation is required. Experience in monitoring tools like Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus. Knowledge of cloud security principles and cloud networking like DNS, SG, NACL, firewalls, and related certifications is a plus. Level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
