About BridgeBio

BridgeBio is a biopharmaceutical company founded to discover, create, test, and deliver transformative medicines to treat patients who suffer from genetic diseases and cancers with clear genetic drivers. We bridge the gap between remarkable advancements in genetic science in academic institutions and the delivery of meaningful medicines to patients. Founded in 2015, the company has built a portfolio of 30+ drug development programs ranging from preclinical to late-stage development in multiple therapeutic areas including genetic dermatology, precision oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, pulmonology, and renal disease, with two approved drugs.

Our focus on scientific excellence and rapid execution aim to translate today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s medicines. We have U.S. offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Boston, New York, and Raleigh, with small satellites in other parts of the country. We also have international offices in Montreal, Canada, and Zug, Switzerland, and are expanding across Europe.

About the Team

The Computational Genetics team at BridgeBio has three main goals:

1.Data-driven scientific decision making with the Asset Acquisition teams in considering novel opportunities

2.Data science and bioinformatics analyses for ongoing BridgeBio program activities

3.Develop internal data infrastructure to conduct streamlined analyses for novel insight discovery in an efficient and reproducible fashion

This Cancer genomics-focused computational biologist role will work on analyses for new oncology opportunities and collaborate extensively with the BridgeBio oncology functions for existing programs. This is an excellent opportunity for getting broad exposure to the drug development process and the field of cancer therapeutics.

Who You Are:

The Computational Genetics team is seeking a full-time Computational Biologist who will focus on extracting biological insights from genetic and medical data. Analysis results will be used to make critical decisions for pursuing new opportunities and internal project developments. The role involves leveraging methods and data from multiple disciplines, including computational genetics, statistical inference, and machine learning. This position will also build and maintain computational tools and infrastructure for streamlined and reproducible analyses.

Responsibilities:
  • Interact with technical and non-technical collaborators, including biologists, physicians, geneticists, and business development & asset acquisition specialists, to evaluate new opportunities and derive analysis-based project decisions
  • Plan and execute data analyses based on knowledge of bioinformatics methods in human population genetics and cancer genomics
  • Stay current with state-of-the-art methods, which may require reading academic papers, reproducing algorithms and methods with or without open-source software and data, and transforming research-quality code into production-grade systems
  • Develop analysis frameworks to utilize data from multiple sources (ex. cBio portal, COSMIC, DepMap, GTEx, etc.)
  • No matter your role at BridgeBio, successful team members are:

  • Patient Champions, who put patients first and uphold strict ethical standards
  • Entrepreneurial Operators, who drive towards practical solutions and have an ownership mindset
  • Truth Seekers, who are detailed, rational, and humble problem solvers
  • Individuals Who Inspire Excellence in themselves and those around them

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related discipline with 0-2 years of industry experience
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in conveying analysis results to both experts and non-experts in the field
  • Intermediate to expert level Python experience with a focus on data analysis. Hands-on experience in developing data processing pipelines and or developing stand-alone libraries is a plus
  • Experience in analyzing human genetic data, including oncology NGS datasets, and using best-in-class analysis methods
  • Knowledge of relational databases (SQL, Postgres, etc.…) and experience in extracting information from such databases
  • Version control with git, which includes: using branches locally, setting up and managing remote repositories (such as Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket), collaborating on a remote repository, working with protected components, submitting and resolving merge requests
  • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3

What We Offer:
  • Patient Days, where we are fortunate to hear directly from individuals living with the conditions we are seeking to impact throughout the year and learn how we can improve our efforts
  • A culture inspired by our values: put patients first, think independently, be radically transparent, every minute counts, and let the science speak
  • An unyielding commitment to always putting patients first. Learn more about how we do this here
