Overview

Abveris is Boston's premier antibody discovery company providing contract research services to the biopharma industry. Abveris applies advanced immunization methods combined with B cell screening and hybridoma-based antibody discovery technologies to provide comprehensive gene-to-antibody discovery services. Abveris is developing the next generation of biologics, cell therapies, vaccines, and diagnostics in partnership with global leaders in biopharma.

Abveris is a private, employee-owned company that prides itself in integrity, teamwork, drive, innovation and our partner’s successes in biologics development. We provide our hard-working team with unlimited vacation days, a matching retirement plan and free lunch every day.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Team and develop our next generation technology. As our throughput and breadth of data from the lab expands, we aim to fully utilize the information to extract additional conclusions while expanding on our current tools. The role will be highly integrated with our Molecular Biology team and will require background knowledge in antibody discovery platforms, particularly with respect to sequence analysis and in silico modeling. General knowledge of how such analysis translates to downstream antibody engineering (e.g. humanization) is preferred. The role will be integral to expanding our molecular biology capabilities as our company continues its rapid growth trajectory and passion for integrating state-of-the-art technology and custom antibody discovery techniques.

The ideal candidate will have previous hands-on experience with bioinformatics analysis of B-cell derived antibody sequence information and omics analysis. Using a combination of available software tools and custom coding, large high-dimensional data sets will be mined for trends and accurately distilled to identify lead candidates. Data sets are composed of antibody sequences (nucleotide and amino acid) and functional data reports will be created to accurately represent the results. Meticulous attention to detail, proficient reasoning and problem-solving skills are cornerstones for a successful candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Performing antibody-based sequence analysis and report generation with large, high-dimensional data sets.
  • Identifying potential opportunities for sequence optimization to enable lead antibody candidate engineering (for example, through humanization).
  • Customization of software and analysis tools to generate functional data reports.
  • Identifying new methods and optimized techniques that translate to execution in the lab and guiding subsequent downstream analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in biology, computational biology, bioinformatics or other related discipline with relevant experience in data science and protein modeling and antibody analysis or B.S. in biology, computational biology, bioinformatics or other related discipline with 6+ years of industry experience in data science and protein modeling and antibody analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of antibody discovery and molecular biology techniques and data output.
  • Demonstrated experience in software development and customization of existing software tools as it relates to protein and antibody development.
  • Prior experience with antibody sequence analysis, humanization techniques and protein modeling using Geneious Biologics, Schrodinger, MOE, or similar software tools.
  • Proven ability to efficiently compile and statistically analyze metadata in the biological field.
  • Excellent attention to detail, record keeping and a passion for accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadline-driven workflows.
