What You Will Achieve

You will be part of a dynamic team of experts who form Pfizer’s Environment, Health & Safety division. Due to the importance of this team for Pfizer’s employees and patients, the organization relies heavily on its team members’ timely actions and decision-making ability.

You will be responsible for activities related to interpreting, recommending and compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations/company policies. You will also assist in planning the changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. You will support the team in preparing contracts for licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms, monitoring waste handling and organizing spill-control teams.

As a Senior Associate, your ability to meet team targets will help in completing important deliverables on time. Your innovative use of communication tools and techniques will make it easy to manage difficult issues and help in establishing consensus between teams.

This position is accountable for leading the completion and closure of any Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Impact Assessment and Change Request related items for the site and all EHS investigations.

Administering EHS change control program to facilitate Pfizer compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Pfizer guidelines addressing safety, environmental, health, and loss prevention requirements. 

Recognizes, identifies, and evaluates EHS impacts related to changes taking place across the site.  Assesses the impact of the risks, and develops feasible, cost effective, control alternatives. Provides consultation on complex EHS issues.

Works in a matrix environment interacting with all functions and departments across the Pfizer McPherson site to assist with proactively addressing EHS actions within the owner’s change. 

Responsible for all investigations related to EHS activities for the site including contractor related items.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Contribute to the completion of complex projects, manage own time to meet agreed targets and develop plans for work activities on own projects within a team.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and inquiries involving environmental, health and safety issues.
  • Assess the probability, magnitude, and potential financial impact of the risks, and develop feasible and cost-effective control alternatives.
  • Coordinate and report necessary details related to the Environment, Health & Safety (Local applications) management and performance parameters.
  • Support waste management services that adhere to Pfizer Global Environment, Health & Safety (Local applications) Standards, state and federal regulatory compliance.
  • Train other individuals with training responsibilities so that they can communicate information to others within their organizations, as needed.
  • Perform site inspections and recommend, monitor and implement corrective and preventive actions, as required.
  • Comply with the regulatory requirements of safety case assessment guide.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Environment, Health & Safety (Local applications) computer databases and utilize a wide variety of other internal and external databases.
  • Maintain knowledge of the capital project system and participate on project teams.

Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated EHS experience
  • Demonstrated experience related to Environment, Health & Safety (local applications)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, creativity in problem solving, flexibility, and excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer operation and experience with MS Office, especially Word, Excel, Outlook

Nice-to-Have
  • Master's degree
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience

  

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to walk, climb stairs and ladders and lift and carry up to 25 pounds for limited distances.

Must be able to support 24/7 operations and support 2nd and 3rd shift operations on an as needed basis.
