Fate Therapeutics is currently seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our legal team to administer corporate legal processes and manage company agreements. This position requires relevant in-house experience in the legal department of a biotech or pharmaceutical company, although experience with a law firm may be considered. The successful candidate will join a growing legal team in the support of all aspects of Fates business, clinical, and research goals. This is a full-time position and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, California. Responsibilities include Supports life cycle of contracts, from contract request through closure. Supports creation of contracts by gathering and vetting required inputs including but not o limited to business terms from business and functional owners Guides internal clients in the contract request process. o Performs review of expiring contracts and manages renewals and amendments. o Supports contract management and administration. Inputs and updates Company contract records in contract management system. o Reviews contract records for completeness and accuracy. o Maintains contract lifecycle system. o Acts as a liaison between internal clients and the legal department for timely processing of contracts. Handles status inquiries, process questions, and directs inquiries to the appropriate attorney. Administratively supports Company attorneys. Maintains legal department forms and assists attorneys in updating all forms. Formats documents for finalization. Manages signature and transfer to company records and maintenance of fully executed agreements.
Requirements: Bachelors degree preferred, paralegal certificate a plus. 2+ years contract/budget management work experience. High degree of adaptability and comfort with uncertainty. Ability to prioritize requests and handle matters resourcefully and proactively to enable timely completion of assigned work. Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders including internal clients, with vendors, with collaborators, and with clinical sites. Speaks up regarding issues and errors so they can be addressed in a timely manner; suggests solutions for continuous improvement. Familiarity with the biotech or life sciences industry, especially in early and clinical research. Good time management and prioritization skills. Superior attention to detail and nimbleness with new/evolving processes will be key. Positive outlook, willingness to learn and contribute, and a team-oriented attitude. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Certified Notary Public a plus.
