ROLE SUMMARY

The Maintenance Planner develops, communicates, and executes maintenance plans and master schedules to utilize plant resources effectively and efficiently (material, labor and capacity). 

Works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and other internal/external customers to resolve issues and ensure that instrumentation calibration & maintenance activities and detailed equipment maintenance records are assigned and maintained within the CMMS (EAMS).

Develops detailed plans for extensive equipment repairs and overhauls; maintains oversight of the job plan / task library within the CMMS, and provides initial resource and activity schedule leveling.

The Maintenance Planner in a scheduler role oversees and issues detailed schedules, informational documentation, and job plan tasks for maintenance, engineering, and partner organizations. 

Develops and identifies continuous improvement opportunities and participates in cross-functional projects/programs in support of plant objectives and goals with an emphasis on lean methodology and consistent with lean principles.

Assists with developing and monitoring area shutdown planning as applicable. Works with all site functions to develop procedures and work practices.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops detailed resource/job task plans for production area shutdowns:

  • Develops shutdown/maintenance work plans to incorporate production, project, and maintenance work.

  • Determines labor and skills required to complete work.

  • Provides job scope and labor hours estimation.

  • Develops job plan and associated tasks necessary for completion of work.

  • Works with MRO team to ensure identification, acquisition, and kitting of parts; collection of tools, documentation, and procedures are completed in preparation for shutdown/maintenance activities.

  • Develops detailed schedules of upcoming work associated with future shutdowns in conjunction with operations schedule to minimize equipment downtime.

  • Assist, where required, craftsman/MRO teams in determining if scope changes can be completed without disrupting schedule.

  • Maintains CMMS system task library.

  •   Develops job plan tasks for major equipment repairs and overhauls.

  • Provides oversight and updates to the job plan task library.

  • Ensures estimated hours within the system are maintained up to date to ensure accurate job planning and scheduling.

  • Recommends work schedules which balance and level Maintenance workloads and resources in order to optimize labor utilization.

  • Reviews and analyzes responsible area PM load.

  • Maintains oversight of overall maintenance backlog to ensure accurate scheduling.

  • Recommends opportunities for resource leveling to ensure work completion in the shortest amount of time.

  • Maintains assigned asset PM and calibration schedules.

  • Assist with/or initiate out-of-frequency reports for any PMs not completed within establishes due dates.

  • Assist with/or submit PM and BOM addition/modification/deletion requests based on task list and spare part requirements; and when applicable, instrument calibration requirements.

  • Participates in shutdown preparation and progress meetings with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations when applicable.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's Degree in a technical or business related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience, BS degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience, or Minimum of 8 years of experience working within a regulatory compliant engineering and maintenance organization. CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for managing asset/instrumentation master data records and work order process systems is a plus.

  • Advanced computer skills in CMMS, Excel, Word, Data Warehouse Reporting Systems, Cognos or SAP/BI, Document Management System (PDOCs, Livelink), SAP/EAMS/Maximo or similar, and proven electronic data/records management experience is required.

  • Knowledge of FDA and/or GMP policies and procedures are required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Industrial/Pharmaceutical Maintenance background preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical Demands: standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting / lowering up to 50 lbs, desk/ computer work.

  • Work Environment: Area safety precautions and requirements must be adhered to.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

M-F dayshift: must be able to support a 24-hour x 7 day operation including weekends and holidays as required.
