Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Operations, Sales, Field Excellence and Capabilities

In this important role the Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Operations, Field Excellence (FE) functions as a driver, project manager, and facilitator of senior level meetings related to both strategic imperatives as well as analytics, goal setting and tracking deliverables, communications, and special department process improvement initiatives. He or she is a member of the cross-functional Field Excellence Leadership Team and plays a critical role in enabling effective collaboration within the cross-functional FE leadership team, as well as with external business partners and other functional teams across Amgen, including Field Leadership Council.
StrategyPartner with Field Excellence Leader and cross functional partners to align on strategy and implement on key priorities as well as assist in developing and supporting 3 year plan for Field Capabilities
Run cross functional Field Excellence meetings and facilitate cross functional alignment and problem solving on key business issues
Partner across cDNA, Field Excellence, IS, external partners, and the business to build and execute key strategic pilots (test and learn environment with critical metric tracking across all)
Coordinate with Field Excellence, Finance and Brand teams to deliver all financial reviews: QBR informs, subnational analytics, LRP where applicable with pilots or GM field sales team
Partner with Field Excellence lead to review key financial performance metrics with SLT on a weekly basis and USBO SLT quarterly
Handle operating expense budget within 1-2% variance and L&B budget within HR guidance for variance in collaboration with Director SPO
Support FE Leaders in chairing SLT, QBRs, prepare and meetings and weekly SLT huddles, including follow ups
Partner with FE Lead to facilitate engagement initiatives to foster culture and purpose across the teams
Document compliance engagement plan for the SFE&C in collaboration with the cross functional leads and teams
Lead the development of and tracking of important metrics in support of innovative pilots, operationalizing the outputs of Field Excellence initiatives, and pulling through operational achievements where applicable
Lead monthly meetings with strategic sales planning and operations leads to discuss General Medicine and Oncology priorities, share standard methodologies and raise key opportunities in an effort to better support FLC decisions and cross functional partnership
Develop and integrate business unit operating model/optimal governance for the year (key calendar milestones for both SLT and FLC)
Facilitate adherence and evolution of the sales ops cohesion model across the portfolio including enhancing the governance model, managing leadership rotation, and initiative identification and prioritization
Sub-national analytics related to brands promoted by the GM PCP team and/or pilots
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:Doctorate degree and 2 years of marketing, sales management and/or project management experience
OR
Masters degree and 4 years of marketing, sales management and/or project management experience
OR
Bachelors degree and 6 years of marketing, sales management and/or project management experience
Preferred Qualifications:Thousand Oaks location preferred, but flexible to consider Remote
4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Strategic planning and analytical experience
Strong understanding and applied knowledge of sales data and market research data sources
Exceptional project management skills
Market research planning and reporting experience
Sales, marketing and/or payer experience in the US osteoporosis market
Solid understanding of the US payer environment including the ability to factor government and commercial payer insights into strategic and operational brand plans
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across the matrix
Excellent written, analytical and oral communication skills
Very strong PowerPoint and Excel skills, including direct experience using these skills in professional setting
