SENIOR MANAGER, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & PARTNERSHIP (PATIENT ADVOCACY)

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement & Partnership (Patient Advocacy) Senior Manager (Sr. Manager) will report directly to the Executive Director, Community Engagement & Partnership (CE&P).  The Sr. Manager will partner with the Executive Director of CE&P and other members of the team in strategic planning and development of activities to develop and maintain strong partnerships and engagement with global Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and patient advocacy groups. This individual will create and execute tactical plans aligned with GBT's patient advocacy strategy.  The Senior Manager must work in the South San Francisco office.  This is not a remote position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Partnerships

• Build and maintain close working partnerships with key global community-based organizations and patient advocacy groups, collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure a coordinated organizational approach

Program and Material Development

• Manage related program logistics, planning, and implementation
• Lead development and implementation of select online and offline patient advocacy materials for assigned programs

Promotional Review Committee (PRC)

• Team Lead for coordination of CE&P PRC logistics including calendar management material submissions, must know Veeva

Advisory Boards

• Support the development of objectives and tactical execution of advisory boards that involve the CBO community

Financial Management

• Participate in budget management and financial input for assigned programs

Internal Employee Engagement

• Encourage employee engagement, consistent with our patient-centric culture
• Lead planning and implementation of patient-related events for employees ensuring the patient perspective is integrated

Other Key activities:

• Assist the Executive Director, Community Engagement & Partnership in the execution of short- and long-term operational Plans to support GBT's objectives, including (but not limited to): development, implementation, and maintenance of program work flows, systems and processes, training of cross-functional partners, liaising with external stakeholders, developing and managing internal progress metrics, budgets, policies and reports and interfacing with cross-functional team members to ensure collaboration and transparency
• Liaise and coordinate activities with the Government Affairs, Medical Affairs, Finance, Compliance, Legal, Clinical and other teams, as necessary
• Manage any vendors/partners and foundations supporting the execution of the programs
• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of program SOPs and policies as well as ensuring compliance with all relevant internal GBT SOPs and policies
• Lead the development and implementation of short and long-term strategies to integrate and advance support services offered to the sickle cell community

Qualifications:

This individual must demonstrate leadership and effective collaboration by managing key projects and developing effective and appropriate relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  He/she must be a good decision maker, highly effective in process management, customer focus and problem-solving.  The successful candidate will have orphan disease experience and demonstrate a focus on results with the ability to prioritize multiple ongoing initiatives while meeting timelines.

• For bachelor's degree holders, a minimum of 6-9 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry; for those with a nursing, masters or doctoral degree, 6 years' experience
• Thorough understanding of the compliance and legal landscapes, prior experience with strategic giving, non-profit engagement, Foundation oversight, and general understanding of US non-profits
• Knowledgeable about processes with attention to detail and superior follow-through
• Demonstrated ability to confidently work under pressure and concurrently manage multiple responsibilities
• Work independently and handle special projects while at same time demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Initiative to solve problems and identify appropriate solutions in accordance with SOPs and policies
• Excellent interpersonal and exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Comfort with financial forecasting and reporting and experience working with systems: development, testing, implementation, enhancements and reporting
• Familiarity working within a non-profit organization and the rules that govern 501c3s and Foundations
• Able to travel 30-40% of the time, possibility of some global travel
