Century's foundational technology is built on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) that have unlimited self-renewing capacity. This enables complex cellular engineering to produce controlled cell banks of modified cells that can be expanded and differentiated into desired immune effector cells, which can supply vast amounts of allogeneic, homogeneous therapeutic products. This platform differentiates Century from other approaches that utilize non-renewable donor-derived cells.

Role:

The Research Associate will utilize their experience and knowledge to design, execute research and development activities focused on engineered cell therapy technologies, with a focus on engineered immune cells. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: serving as a subject matter contributor and lab support for the growth, maintenance and optimization of iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cells) cultures and their differentiation into various immunological lineage cells; execution of strategies to optimize iPSC growth characteristics and their differentiation into various immunological cells with a focus toward manufacturing; and interacting with research and CMC teams focused on engineered cell therapy platform development.

Responsibilities:

• Support the therapeutic development of immune cell products derived from iPSCs.

• Design and execute experimental plans for the development and optimization of the iPSC platform.

• Maintain well-organized, detailed, and updated records of all research activities.

• Write protocols, technical reports, and develop appropriate documentation for processes.

• Support technology transfer efforts of developed processes to various groups.

• Deliver reports, summaries, and presentations supporting experimental results.

• Perform data analysis and interpretation using various analytical tools.

Qualifications:

• Degree in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, immunology or a closely related scientific field is required.

Requirements:

• Experience with mammalian cell culture is a must with at least 1 year in an industrial setting.

• Experience in diverse cell and molecular biology techniques including transduction, DNA/RNA transfection, basic gene editing, cloning, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, etc. is desired.

• Experience with transcriptomics methods such as RNA-seq and/or single cell RNA-seq or related technologies is desired.

• Ability to independently propose, design, execute and report on research projects, and possess outstanding collaborative and communication skills.

• Demonstrated accountability and flexibility to change project objectives quickly and enthusiastically.

• Ability to work well independently, as part of a team, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.

• Demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot and implement solutions to practical problems.

• Proactive and organized with a keen ability to prioritize.

• Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.

• Experience working with iPSCs and immune cells is preferred though not required.
