The Scientist will work within the Analytical Sciences team to enable a full spectrum of lead candidate molecule development from early discovery candidate selection and process development through late phase and commercial manufacturing. As a valued team member, Scientists will perform a range of bioanalytical assays to quantify and characterize the RNA products, their intermediates, and raw materials. This role allows learning of new methodologies and applying cutting-edge science, implementation of molecular biology and biochemical assay techniques.  The Scientist in this role will implement the testing with high accuracy and commitment to quality to produce highly reliable results, instrumental in R&D discovery and mid-to-late phase product development within a highly collaborative team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform testing to quantify target analyte and impurities using biochemistry assays for in-process controls and final material release for early, mid-to late-stage R&D processes
  • Develop, optimize, validate, and execute methods for content, residual impurities, and related substances measurement in various matrices, including cell lysates, utilizing well-established and novel methodologies.
  • Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results to manager and other team members
  • Trend and track stability of the process controls for each assay
  • Adhere to Good Laboratory/Manufacturing Practices (GLP/GMP)
  • Work collaboratively with other R&D team members to accomplish project goals and milestones
  • Author methods, SOPs, protocols, and reports, and train and mentor junior researchers
  • Stay up to date with scientific and technical development literature within the fields of biology, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and genetics
  • Be accountable for the accuracy of data analysis and timely processing of samples; detail-oriented tracking and documenting of experimental results and instrument performance in electronic laboratory notebooks and company databases
  • Willing to assume other responsibilities as assigned

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, or equivalent with 5+ years or B.S. with 7+ years industry experience working in an analytical development or a quality control laboratory, preferably at an industrial biotechnology or biopharmaceutical company
  • Strong background in biochemistry, with enzymatic and immuno-assays in a GMP setting, is required
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with plate-based pharmacological assays, enzyme kinetics, and ligand-based assays
  • Hands-on experience with Western Blot, ELISA, SDS-Page, RT-qPCR, CE, immunoprecipitation
