POSITION

We are looking for a Payroll & HRIS Manager who will primarily be responsible for all day-to-day payroll activities, but they will also play a critical role in supporting the overall employee experience of GreenLighters. The Payroll Manager will report to the Head of HR Operations and Total Rewards and will oversee the flawless delivery of the payroll process while managing the onboarding and offboarding of staff within our HRIS system. This role will also be responsible for continually driving process improvements and be an experienced and trusted payroll and benefits resource for the entire company. This is a unique opportunity to be part of building the function in a growing company. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the payroll and produces all bi-weekly payroll cycles and other payrolls as needed. Compiles all information required to process the payroll; new hires, terminations, status changes, pay items and ensuring authorization and accuracy of data.
  • Ensure the timely processing of federal, state, and local tax filings, payments, corrections, tax notices and oversees filing in new employment tax territories.
  • Review and verify all aspects of any personal and employment changes are applied correctly, including but not limited to tax withholding rates, jurisdictions, and any time & labor assignment.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department on various reporting requirements and projects including preparing payroll entries.
  • Liaise with ADP for payroll/benefits setup and year-end reporting.
  • Collaborate with Head of HR Operations & Total Rewards to ensure accurate benefit deductions and record keeping.
  • Manages HRIS (ADP) data accuracy, test new setups, and review system updates and integrations affecting payroll and benefits. Help to identify opportunities to better utilize the HRIS and improve processes affecting HRIS data and functionality. 
  • With the support of the Head of HR Operations & Total Rewards, administer benefits enrollments, changes and compliance including 401k reporting and auditing, researching and responding to employee inquiries and requests, and responding to requests for information from benefits providers including short term disability and other leave-related forms and inquiries
  • Collaborate effectively with HR team members and Finance on payroll-related issues, ad-hoc projects, reporting, audits, and account reconciliations.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five+ years of payroll processing experience in a fast-paced environment and at least 2 years in managing payroll for a multi-state operation with at least 250 employees
  • Prior experience with benefits administration, including 401k
  • Solid knowledge and experience with benefits, tax and payroll compliance, and regulations
  • Prior experience utilizing ADP is required
  • Experience with MS Office; PowerPoint and Excel for data analysis and reporting; experience reporting on data and metrics
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in managing domestic and global payroll preferred. 
  • Experience in a high-growth biotech company with increasing global complexity preferred.
