Job Details

Molecular Templates is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of differentiated, targeted, biologic therapeutics.  Our proprietary biologic drug platform technology, known as engineered toxin bodies, or ETBs, leverages the resident biology of a genetically engineered form of Shiga-like Toxin A subunit to create novel therapies with potent and differentiated mechanisms of action for cancer and other serious diseases.  MTEM currently has multiple clinical-stage ETB candidates in development including MT-5111, TAK-169, and MT-6402.  Additional preclinical compounds derived from our ETB platform technology are being advanced toward clinical development.  Additional information about Molecular Templates can be obtained at www.mtem.com

 

Position Overview:  

 

The Research Associate (RA) is an integral member of the research and development (R&D) team and will be involved in supporting the evaluation and characterization of immune relevant properties of ETBs across immune associated indications.  This is a laboratory-based position in a team setting.  The RA will be responsible for the maintenance of primary immune and tumor cells and the execution of standard immunoassays from established protocols with all work being documented.   Responsibilities may change in line with prioritization at the discretion of the management team.  

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  

  • Performs research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects 

  • Makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results 

  • Maintains primary immune cell cultures, resources and reagents under the supervision and direction of management 

  • Maintains a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with internal training and scientific literature, as appropriate, for the level of work assigned 

  • Presents data and methods in R&D meetings, as needed and assigned 

  • Accurately documents all tasks in a timely manner 

  • Assists in the design and execution of new experiments or test protocols, as needed, under the direction of management 

  • Performs general lab maintenance including equipment upkeep, lab cleanliness, and organization and solution/reagent preparation 

  • Executes functional immune-assays, including cytotoxicity, proliferation, and surface marker phenotyping to proficiency with guidance and supervision 

  • Conducts ELISA, and flow-cytometry based assays according to established protocols 

  • Assists in the design and execution of new experiments or test protocols as needed under the direction of management 

  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor, as needed 

 

 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or related field is strongly preferred.  

  • Previous lab-based experience (academic or industry) is preferred. 

  • Ability to work on problems and projects of limited scope defined by management 

  • Demonstrated ability to safely follow detailed directions and protocols in a laboratory environment 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment 

  • Ability to build stable working relationships with team members 

  • Strong time-management skills 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Computer skills with knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software 

 

Reporting Structure: 

 

This position reports to R&D management.  This can vary in level depending on the specific assignments.
