ROLE SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision and working within defined operation parameters, maintains facility cGMP mechanical equipment, leads complex mechanical repairs on reactor and other equipment systems, performs lock out tag outs supporting facility project upgrades or routine maintenance, develops and executes demand and scheduled work orders.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures, fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances, align and test equipment, and make any necessary adjustments, perform predictive and operational procedures, repair or replace defective parts, service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and may do some tack welding

Must have good computer skills and the ability to learn or operate the following programs: Word, Excel. Participates in the validation, qualification and commissioning requirements for equipment used in cGMP operations. Must be extremely knowledgeable and understand all complex utility systems.

Must be mechanically inclined and able to learn quickly, have good problem solving, written and verbal communication skills, and is well organized. Ability to understand standard operating procedures and will also lead training other technicians on new equipment and upgrades. Assists others with problem solving and leads troubleshooting with the ability to determine and provide solutions for problems.

Participates in department meetings and safety meetings as required. Commitment to continually improving skills through participation in educational opportunities whether offered as on the job, within or outside the facility, to increase knowledge of work-related issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma with 10+ years of experience in complex mechanical equipment, maintenance, good computer skills, and familiarity with GMP fundamentals.

  • Proven mechanical capabilities, excellent safety record and excellent references will be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment desired.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift excess of 50 lbs. Be amenable to wearing personal protective equipment and working in the vicinity of hazardous materials.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be able and willing to work outside of standard day shift hours and on weekends as necessary.
