SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE – TRANSLATIONAL BIOLOGY

Position Summary:

The Biology Department at Global Blood Therapeutics is looking for a qualified Senior Research Associate with protocol development experience. This position will be primarily responsible for supporting critical instruments, providing technical support for clinical studies across the GBT pipeline, and writing protocols for translational assays and instruments maintenance. The applicant will provide logistics and troubleshooting support to laboratories supporting GBT sponsored clinical trials. This position will require providing support outside of the standard work hours and may require travel, up to 15% of total work time. This position will require communication with and oversight of CROs. An ideal candidate will be an influential communicator, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working both independently and within a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee routine and ad-hoc instrument maintenance
  • Support translational data collection for clinical studies – through CRO management
  • Develop and update protocols around assays or instrument care
  • Provide logistics and troubleshooting support for studies conducted externally
  • Independently execute and analyze experiments
  • Evaluate and communicate technical information clearly
  • Learn new laboratory techniques and troubleshoot technical issues and results

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in biochemistry, molecular biology or equivalent discipline with3-5 years of laboratory experience and at least one year of experience CRO management
  • Experience with troubleshooting instruments
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively
  • Knowledge in basic spectroscopy
  • Experience coordinating with individuals at varying skill levels
  • Experience with data analysis using Excel and Prism
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute actively to an integrated team
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to multitask
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with high performing colleagues
  • Proactive
