This is a newly created technical, hands-on role in the growing operations group at Encoded. The Lab IT Manager will be accountable for further maturing and running the company’s Lab IT needs, supporting a variety of functions spanning both non-GxP and GxP labs ecosystems. Encoded has adopted a cloud-first strategy since inception and continues to run its operations primarily on a set of best-of-breed SaaS and PaaS products with minimal on-premise infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide priority support for all IT Lab issues including instrument connectivity, data backup, and computer setup
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory IT equipment and ensure security and upkeep of all connected devices.
  • Work with both lab employees and vendors to facilitate installation and maintenance of computer connected equipment.
  • Serve as the first level contact and convey resolutions to customer issues either in person, over the phone, or via remote support tools. Work with users to determine the nature of issues, document Service Desk request information, walk customers through problem-solving processes and document resolution in Service Management solutions.
  • Ongoing management and optimization of basic ITIL Service Operations including Incident Management, Event Management, Request Fulfillment, Problem Management and Access Management.
  • Partner and collaborate with IT Operations and Application teams to provide the best experience for all Encoded users. May get involved in supporting activities in these areas including but not limited to desktop imaging, application administration/configuration and supplier management (including hosted solution.)
  • Train new employees and contractors on Encoded Information Technology policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of IT training materials and Knowledge Base articles

  • Bachelors or Masters degree with 5+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience performing multiple roles and protocols within the lab environment.
  • Must have demonstrated connections with other leaders in the lab and medical testing community to best-practice share.
  • They must be fully trained and compliant with all regulatory requirements including HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, Computer Validation etc.
  • Must be detailed — oriented, naturally inquisitive and a proactive problem solver
