Requirements
- Performs duties in accordance with established laboratory standards.
- Assists in the recommendation of new methods for manufacturing and testing efficiency.
- The ability to work collaboratively within and across departments.
- Prepares experiments and samples for analyses.
- Analyze and accurately report results, in a timely manner, to contribute to process/method development and project outcomes.
- Operation and routine maintenance of laboratory instruments and troubleshooting procedures in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Accurately documents all procedures following customer requirements.
- Perform testing of products using general laboratory equipment/instrumentation.
- Evaluate, troubleshoot and solve routine problems. Interprets data based on knowledge and experience.
- Routinely Prepare technical report or presentations.
- Support and coordinate deviation investigations and implementation of change controls or robust corrective and preventative actions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Highly preferred skills and experience:
- Experience working with basic and advanced laboratory equipment
- Experience with basic molecular biology methods (agarose gel, densitometry, 96 well plate format assays, ELISA, UV spectrophotometry, qPCR, sequencing, primer generation, cloning, and others)
- Knowledge of regulatory aspects of bacterial strain development processes
- General understanding of major regulatory requirements
- Education
- BS/MS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field. PhDs with some industrial experience will also be considered
- 2-3 years direct laboratory experience
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique and microbial cell culture
- Working knowledge of experimental laboratory instruments and scientific products (bioreactors along with associated software is a plus)
- Experience with safe laboratory practices and procedures
- Previous experience working in a GLP/GMP facility
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to frequently and repetitively move and/or pour a minimum of 5lbs (up to 25lbs may occasionally be required) as well as other physical activities, including:
- Constantly opening and closing lab receptacles, including removing and adhering plate seals, twisting caps, lifting lids.
- Occasionally ascending/descending a ladder to retrieve lab supplies.
- Constantly positioning self to pour or pipette reagents used for the lab process, including large and small volumes.
