Lets do this. Lets change the world. During this program, you will use organic synthesis to deliver robust processes and technologies for the manufacture of Drug Substance/Active Pharmaceutical ingredient from early to late stage development, and serve our R&D, Clinical and Commercial partners. The Pivotal Commercial Synthetics and Engineering group is a part of PCS and is principally concerned with translating developmental processes into commercial manufacturing reality through scientific expertise, engineering innovation and deployment of manufacturing technologies.

The department at our Cambridge, Massachusetts location is looking for an Undergraduate student interested in a 6 month Co-op placement. The Co-op will learn the principles of process scale-up of small-molecule intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients using synthetic organic chemistry. The Co-op will have an opportunity to interact with scientists and engineers implementing advanced manufacturing technologies for multiple product modalities. Relocation in the form of a transportation allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelors Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

Enrolled in a full time Bachelors degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Degree concentration(s) in Chemistry, with a focus or interest in organic synthesis

Strong interpersonal, project management, analytical and quantitative skills

Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and resourcefulness
