About the role

Sana Biotechnology is looking to expand our team with hard-working individuals who believe in the potential of engineered cells as medicines, have the vision to do creative things, and the determination to execute that vision. We are looking for a highly motivated Scientist/Senior Scientist with a passion for producing high quality data to expand our flow cytometry analytical capacity at Sana Biotechnology. You will leverage your technical expertise in flow cytometry by creating streamlined workflow solutions and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to drive the evaluation and implementation of a new automated flow cytometry data analysis pipeline. In addition, you will join an innovative , multi-disciplinary team and contribute to new flow cytometry method development, optimization, analytical testing, and technical data review to support company objectives . This is a cross-functional position in Analytical Development that will interface with peers in Research, Tech Sciences, Development Sciences, Process Development, and Quality Control. You will report to the Principal Scientist, Analytical Development.

What you'll do
  • Lead the technical evaluation and implementation of an automated flow data analysis pipeline for analytical testing to improve analysis throughput and decrease turnaround time
  • Participate in the technical review of analytical data generated from complex multi-color flow panels and provide other subject matter advice to teams on data analysis
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in flow cytometry method development for use in both regulated (e.g. lot release, in-process, and stability testing) and unregulated environments (e.g. characterization and high throughput screening)
  • Provide analytical support to Process Development and assist in tech transfer internally and externally in support of GMP manufacturing
  • Author and revise analytical test methods and reports
  • Maintain flow cytometry capabilities to relevant regulatory standards as needed and contribute to flow cytometry best practices

What we're looking for
  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related scientific discipline with up to 2+ years of academic or industry experience (Scientist level), or
  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related scientific discipline with 5+ years of academic or industry experience (Senior Scientist level)
  • Expert knowledge of multi-color flow cytometry principles (>10 colors) and appropriate gating controls, panel design, optimization, and data analysis
  • Hands-on experience in the analysis of human T cells and other immune cell types
  • Experience with automated gating platforms for flow cytometry data analysis is required
  • Demonstrated expertise with the use of commercial flow cytometry data analysis software such as FlowJo
  • Ability to present complex data sets to key stakeholders and work effectively in a high paced team environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize work from multiple projects
  • Familiarity with development and/or commercialization of cell-based therapeutics, including the development of analytical methods
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines from the FDA, ICH, USP, etc.

What will separate you from the crowd
  • Hands-on experience with advanced data visualization tools for single cell analysis such as SPADE, viSNE, and FlowSOM
  • Knowledge of flow cytometry laboratory automation
  • Experience working in a regulated GxP environment

  • Ability to work in BSL-2 and BSL-2+ labs
