ROLE SUMMARY

This role supports the strategic procurement category management for a spend category or group of categories globally or in the designated geography/client. The objective of this role is to continuously improve through innovative solutions the value, quality and service received by Pfizer within the assigned spend areas.  In addition to effective sourcing and demand management practices, supplier relationship management, and risk management, this role requires significant data analysis, industry trending, and benchmarking to ensure proactive and relevant strategies are delivered in a timely manner aligned with current and future business requirements.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The key tasks include, but are not limited to:

I - Category strategy collaboration and operational implementation

  • Supports the strategic sourcing processes within the Global Product Development, Worldwide Safety, and Medical organizations, including identify needs, conduct pre-project planning, define projects, collect internal and external data, perform strategic analysis and identify opportunities, formulate procurement strategies and develop implementation plans.

  • Develop appropriate risk management strategies to assure supply of Pfizer's requirements.

  • Effectively utilize Pfizer's eSourcing capabilities in advancing sourcing initiatives.

  • Lead and/or participate on project teams as required or assigned.

II - Sourcing activity and contract negotiation:

  • Support cross-functional teams as applicable to execute the procurement process and plans; enable supplier selection and decision process; lead / facilitate contract development, negotiation, and execution process for Pfizer’s external supplier community, including large global contract research organizations (CROs), central labs, and other technical and ancillary clinical trial suppliers.

  • Track and resolve project issues and concerns related to sourcing and operational initiatives. Create key sourcing documents (RFXs) and build expertise in the utilization of ARIBA eSourcing.

  • Take ownership for delivering end to end sourcing activity for appropriate complexity projects and execute spot-buying as required.

III - Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Execute the elements Pfizer's Supplier Management process in accordance with program guidelines.

  • Utilize Continuous Improvement to drive the resolution of issues and improve supplier performance.

IV - Client Engagement and Customer Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support the sourcing process.

  • Coordinate with other functions and impacted stakeholders to assure timely implementation and compliance with the agreed to sourcing strategies.

  • Work within Sourcing and Enterprise Services (S&ES) and other Pfizer functions and departments to assist budget owners in development of operating budgets through effective communication of supplier pricing and related cost improvement initiatives.

V - Business processes and compliance:

  • Work across groups within Business Process and Operations to implement efficient P2Pprocesses with assigned suppliers.

  • Support Pfizer's Diversity and Inclusion objectives as applicable to strategic category management within Procurement.

VI - Reporting:

  • Benchmark industry best practices in the assigned spend areas and lead the adoption within Pfizer as applicable.

  • Continually evaluate and monitor market conditions and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.

VII - People management and development:

Act as a mentor to Associate colleagues to support their growth and development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.  Business discipline, Supply Chain Management, Science, Engineering, or other related field is required.

  • 6 – 8 years relevant experience in procurement category management.

  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision.

  • Candidate must have demonstrated proficiency in managing complex, cross-functional activities.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement systems, processes and procedures;

  • Analytical and negotiation skills and techniques;

  • Management skills in assessing business issues;

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal interactions skills;

  • Facilitating cross-functional teams;

  • Project Management

  • Prior CRO experience in a business development, contract management, or proposal development function a plus

Sunshine Act
