The Impact You’ll Make

• Collaborate on the development of new automated screening platforms to productionalize the generation of -omics data, e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics, lipodomics and metabolomics

• Design and implement robust workflows to run complex biological assays using automated liquid handlers, next generation sequencing, robotic workcells and other scientific instrumentation

• Optimize and qualify assay conditions to robustly run new disease screening modalities on High Throughput Screening (HTS) platforms

• Generate and experimentally test hypotheses to evaluate new workflows and methodologies

• Enable our HTS teams to perform new assays at a scale of 100s or 1000s of 1536-well microplates per week

The Team You’ll Join 

You’ll join the fast-paced Innovation and Scale-up team inside Recursion’s Core Operations Department. This team supports Recursion’s High Throughput Screening (HTS) efforts by improving existing operational processes, monitoring screening performance to ensure robustness, enabling innovative new screening technologies and deploying new assays onto our HTS platforms. As an innovation team-member focused on developing new HTS -omics platforms (transcriptomics, proteomics, lipidomics, metabolomics, etc.), you will collaborate with biologists, automation engineers, software engineers and data scientists to deploy new methods of generating experimental data for Recursion. You will ensure that these platforms are designed with scale in mind and with an eye towards long-term data generation that is robust and high value. You will work with our HTS teams to train them on the running of these new screening platforms and ensure that any issues with assay robustness get addressed if they arise after deployment. You will develop processes for validating novel assays to be onboarded onto these new screening platforms and establish methods for tracking the data quality from those assays. 

The Experience You’ll Need

• Experience developing automated protocols using liquid handlers, robotic workcells and other scientific instrumentation

• Experience with one or more -omics assays, e.g.  transcriptomics, lipidomics, metabolomics or proteomics. Experience building or working with these assays in a production environment is highly preferred. 

• Demonstrated ability to develop and qualify robust cell-based assays

• Ability to communicate and understand requirements from experts across diverse disciplines including data science, chemistry and biology

• Experience approaching laboratory problems with an engineering mindset using statistical process control, and data analysis techniques to guide quality and efficiency 

• Requires 4+ years of laboratory experience with a Masters or better in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering or related field
