The Gilead Business Services center in Raleigh's Research Triangle region will be home to some of the company's critical shared service teams in North America, including Information Technology, Global Financial Solutions, HR Operations and Procurement Services Desk. These functions provide the necessary support to ensure Gilead's business runs effectively and efficiently. The Commercial IT Portfolio Manager will be responsible for overseeing PMO function within Commercial IT including:
  • Core Competency - Demonstrated accountability and ownership, thrive in ambiguity, C level stakeholder management in respect of portfolios and related financial views and reports, proactive (not reactive) financial management, excellent people skills across onshore/off-shore locations
  • Portfolio Planning - Is responsible for commercial IT portfolio/programs/project planning, financial management with a special focus on
    • Roadmap Planning - Capability and capacity based financial planning for weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly and multiyear roadmaps
    • Real-Time Financial Views - Make available real-time financial portfolio data across the portfolio (reactive financial management)
    • Forecasting - Establish best in class mature forecasting models and scenario planning for resource management, department and project portfolios based on budget targets (proactive financial management)
    • Capacity Planning - Is responsible for aligned capacity and resource planning across all functional domains within Commercial IT
    • Risk Management - Is accountable for identifying financial and portfolio risks, propose alternatives and ensure mitigation actions within commercial IT domain
  • Resource Management - Act as the single point of contact for PM's across Commercial IT projects/programs/portfolio to ensure strict compliance to simple and transparent financial processes, standards and timelines
  • Demand Management - Expert level knowledge of enterprise demand management lifecycle from demand intake to execution across Agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Process Management - Expert level hands on knowledge in financial portfolio process improvements across the portfolio in terms of yearly planning cycles, project submission requests based on organizational submission cadence
  • Methodologies - Hands on expertise in Agile/Scrum/Waterfall planning and execution of portfolio's across all demands and request life cycles
  • Certification - PMO Certification - Six Sigma, PMP, APMP or similar
  • Tools - Expert level expertise in Tableau, MS Project or similar, Clarity, Smartsheet, JIRA/Confluence, Azure Dev/Ops
  • Domain Expertise
    • Has domain expertise in managing PMO function within commercial IT across capabilities within the function
    • Preferred expertise in commercial IT technologies like Sales Force, Veeva, and other enterprise platforms like Sharepoint, Workday etc.
  • Negotiations and Vendor Management - Demonstrated customer focus, vendor management and negotiation skills with external vendors, their PM's and resources to keep everyone in line to financial roadmaps and targets


Basic Qualifications:

Associates Degree and Ten Years Experience OR Bachelor\'s Degree and Eight Years' Experience OR Masters\' Degree and Six Years' Experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15 or more years in IT PMO
  • 8+ years of PMO experience within Pharma commercial landscape
  • Experience in business/industry (beyond Pharma), managing cross-functional portfolios/programs/projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
