Title: District Sales Manager – Southeast District

Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. Responsibilities:
  • Directly responsible for PacBio instrument, consumables, and service revenue for the district
  • Develop and execute a district sales plan that aligns with corporate objectives and drives growth
  • Build, lead, support, and mentor a team of territory account managers to execute PacBio's commercial strategies and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Routinely monitor performance of the district sales team and implement timely development plans to improve individual and team performance as needed
  • Accurately and routinely forecast sales, order installations, and revenue for the district and its territories
  • Work cooperatively with regional marketing, strategic marketing, commercial operations, and other teams within the organization to positively influence product capabilities and commercial strategy and ensure effective communication to the sales team
  • Recruit, develop, and retain world class sales personnel
  • Utilize Salesforce.com according to standard protocols for pipeline management, accurate forecasting, and communication with field and internal teams
  • Forecast and monitor selling expenses for the district within the assigned budget
  • Ensure team compliance with the highest professional standards and PacBio's company policies

Position Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of sales management experience
  • Minimum 7+ years or equivalent direct sales experience selling into the life sciences and/or clinical research markets required, with at least 3 years of capital equipment sales experience
  • Experience managing key accounts
  • Competitive nature and proven track record of consistent sales achievement
  • Extraordinary leadership skills with the ability to manage a team as well as cross functional interactions within the organization
  • Experience with genomics products preferred
  • Proficiency working at the highest levels within customer organizations is critical (President/CEO, CTO/CSO and CFO and other key influencers)
  • Scientific or technical degree is required, advanced degree preferred
  • Strong understanding of scientific applications and technology developments as they relate to customer requirements in target market segments
  • Role will require a home office and 50% travel at a minimum
  • Home office must be within proximity to a major airport
