Director of Viral and Non-viral Delivery

OPPORTUNITY
As Director of Viral and Non-viral Delivery, you will be responsible for leading the research and early development activities for viral and non-viral delivery technologies at Mammoth. In this role, you and your team will be responsible for the integration of Mammoth’s proprietary CRISPR nucleases with various delivery technologies. In addition, you will be responsible for in-house research-scale production and quality control of viral vectors and LNPs to support Mammoth’s ex vivo and in vivo studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Evaluate and optimize non-viral in vivo delivery methods with Mammoths CRISPR nuclease (including Cas14 and CasPhi)
• Establish and operate an in-house, research, and pre-clinical-scale AAV production core
• Select and manage external CROs
• Create and manage budgets for delivery projects
• Work with the team to define and communicate Mammoths gene delivery strategy
• Set up rigorous QC process for delivery vectors
• Hire and mentor additions to the Delivery Team 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. in virology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, molecular biology, or related discipline. Other degrees with additional industry experience will be considered
• 7+ years of technical experience working with in vivo gene delivery technologies
• 3+ years management experience 
• Deep understanding of viral and non-viral delivery vectors for both ex vivo and in vivo applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of quality systems and GMP
• Experience sourcing reagents for LNP and AAV delivery
• Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders up to the executive level
• Previous experience managing external research collaborations and CROs

TEAM
Our small-size proteins, such as Cas14 and CasPhi, are poised to transform disease treatment enabling novel editing approaches and delivery options that are difficult to achieve or not even possible with previously described CRISPR-Cas systems. Our teams are responsible for discovering and engineering novel CRISPR systems, establishing CRISPR-based diagnostics, and translating our unique CRISPR technology into therapeutic treatments with the ultimate goal of cures for indications with high medical need.
