ROLE SUMMARY

Senior Finance Analyst Role on the Kalamazoo Finance Operations Team to support with month-end-close activities, budgeting, forecasting, actual spend reporting, day-to-day accuracy of financial records. The role requires an individual who is capable of driving efficiency through continuous improvement of operational and financial process, contributes to the completion of moderately complex projects, matrix environment and managing competing priorities.

Examines, verifies and analyzes business records and transactions concerning financial status and operating procedures. Administers company or internal organizational budgets and prepares fiscal forecasts based on historical costs. Prepares and analyzes costs of operations. Also performs traditional general accounting functions such as Journal Entries, Account Reconciliations, Spending and Cost Variance Analysis. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partnering with key leaders in order to understand business needs
  • Monitoring business processes and developing analytical tools to track trends
  • Improving internal financial processes to gain efficiency
  • Prepare and enter journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Ability to work well in a team setting
  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Compiling large amounts of data using advance Excel applications
  • Operate SAP environment
  • Strong Communication and Presentation Skills
  • Provide financial support for business and support unit leaders
  • Present financial data to business partners and contribute meaningfully to conversation
  • Develop and implement trend analysis and reporting processes for spending categories, financial models, and templates for analyzing investments, reporting tools for headcount, overtime, compensation and benefits and forecasting and planning tools
  • Identify financial team process improvements and implement changes
  • Be a key member of the financial reporting team to ensure all deliverables are met
  • Assist the financial team in being compliant with all SOX controls and financial reporting policies
  • Participate in strategic planning and the development of the annual operating plan and monthly forecasts

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Undergraduate Degree from an Accredited University
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint Skills

Preferred:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance from accredited university
  • ERP Experience (SAP, Hyperion).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the field
  • MBA, CPA, or CMA a plus
  • Has strong knowledge/understanding of the principles and concepts of Managerial Accounting
  • Able to perform complex data analysis
  • Able to foster strong relationships with business partners
  • Able to build and implement process improvements
