Description:

The Srivastava lab is looking for a candidate who will help us to study gene regulation during cardiac differentiation. The research assistant will be assisting postdoctoral scientists with the experiments requiring in vitro cardiac differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells and generating genetically modified cell lines.  We are looking for candidates who work well in a team setting and are motivated to develop new skills. Recent graduates with plans on applying for medical/graduate school are encouraged to apply. 

Responsibilities:
  • Daily culturing of human induced pluripotent stem cells (maintenance, expansion, and differentiation)
  • Assist in generating genetically engineered cell lines using CRISPR
  • Quality assessment of induced pluripotent stem cells, differentiated cells, and genetically engineered cell lines using variety of cell-based and biochemical assays (Microscopy, PCR, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, FACS, Western Blot, sequencing)
  • Molecular cloning
     
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a biology related field (such as Molecular Biology/Genetics/Biochemistry) or Associate's degree and 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent note keeping and organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn/optimize/ troubleshoot new techniques under supervision
Preferred qualifications:
  • Hands-on lab experience in a research laboratory (tissue culture, molecular cloning, PCR, Western blot and so on)
